Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Now with Pics!

Re: Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Updates 01/21/13

Well, we'll just wander aimlessly through the con & perhaps stumble upon ya' then. :) I suspect my son will want to wander about without his younger siblings & folks tethered to him anyway... :D

Re: Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Updates 01/31/13

Great news! I just got our table assignment for the con so folks who want to come visit can swing by. We'll be inhabiting table E-15 in Artist's Alley. As soon as we get a map posted on the website, I'll share that as well. :)

Re: Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Updates 01/31/13

Here's the show floor map, with our table location marked on it! :)

Re: Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Updates 01/31/13

Very cool,it's coming up fast!

Yes, it is! I almost had palpitations when I saw the size of the floor.. and that's just the exhibitor floor! The media guests are on another floor altogether, and so is the gaming area. :eek

I'm making sure to caution people if they come by, there could well be shenanigans! :popcorn

Re: Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Updates 02/02/13

Prices and schedules are up on the ECCC website. I've updated the original post with the autograph and photo op prices for each of the celebrity guests.

It could be just me, but it seems like the prices are pretty reasonable this year, overall. :)

Re: Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Updates 02/02/13

Wow, it seems like the photo op prices are a lot more reasonable this year. Only a bit more than autographs.

No, it's just you I think. A few of those are way too high. I understand how big of an actor Patrick Stewart is, but $85 for a quick in/out snapshot just seems a bit ridiculous. I would cap at about $70, which leads me to others....

I so can't wait for my photo op with Carrie Fisher, but the prices on both the auto and op is pretty steep. Didn't Fisher used to be around $50 for an auto?

Wil Wheaton always has the best prices for his auto... free! Wil's the man...

With the higher costs for these it's definitely making me rethink who and how many sigs I'm getting. Even the voice actors this year have a charge after the first item + photo ops cost $$ now too, so I have to figure that in.

I managed to get a VIP pass months ago, so the redeeming factor at least is less line waiting. It's overall going to be pretty darn expensive just for the media guests, not even counting the awesome show floor offerings.

It also looks like the first item can't be one you provide. Am I reading that correctly? Or do I have that backwards?

You've got it backwards.

Re: Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Updates 02/11/13

I posted this on our press website, but thought I'd share it here as well for those who are interested in our books!

Talaria Press is once more joining forces with Emerald City ComiCon to combat springtime boredom! Come out to the convention, the weekend of March 1-3, 2013, and see us at Table E-15 in Artist’s Alley. We’ll have books on-hand to purchase if you’re missing a key part of your favorite series, or if you’re just curious to see what other offerings we have.

We will also be offering our brand new anthology Once More Upon a Time as a free download for your Kindle ereader app or device.
We’ll also be running a brand new contest:

During ECCC weekend, follow us on Twitter, like our Facebook page, or circle us on Google+. Share a picture of yourself at the convention with your favorite Talaria Press book or founder for a chance to win an ebook of the next novel-length work by the founder of your choice... before anyone else! That's right, if you're chosen, you'll receive an ebook edition of their novel before it's available for anyone else to purchase.

Can't make it to the convention? That's okay; you can still have a chance to win! Share a picture of yourself reading a TalP book in public or of something awesome you've made inspired by your favorite TalP book for a chance to win as well!
• Did you draw an awesome picture of Rom, Kari or Cousins from the Chronicles of Aesirium? Share it!
• Are you working on an amazing cosplay costume as Jordan from the Children of Divinity? Show us!
• Have you made a gorgeous Egyptian-themed 'artifact' base on Sekhmet's Light? We want to see it!

Make sure to tweet or post your photos with the hashtag #TalPECCC attached so we can find them easily! We’ll also share your pictures on our gallery page, so the whole world can see how awesome our fans really are.

Each time you post or tweet something new with our hashtag, you’ll be entered into the contest so enter as often as you like with as much awesome as possible. Winners will be randomly chosen on Monday, March 4th from all entries received and will be announced via all social media outlets.

Ok. So I caved and bought a three day pass. This is my first time to ECCC. Any survival tips or must sees you can recomend for a newbie?

Don't panic when you see the crowds, that's the first thing. It's going to be really crowded and the best way to cope is to keep calm and try to keep a sense of humor.

I'd peruse the schedule and see what panels and such you want to hit up and try to get to them early to avoid missing out due to lack of room in the panel rooms. Same with the photo ops and celebrity signings if that's what you're aiming for.

Most of all, if you have any problems, look for a minion or staff member and let them know what's going on. ECCC is very good about taking care of problems they're able to remedy.

Re: Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Updates 02/11/13

Seems like more people coming to this from different parts of the country. Is the attendance expected to be exponentially more than last year's?

Yeah, they're expecting a bigger attendance this year. Official numbers from 2011 had attendance at around 32,000 and 2012 at 53,000. If it continues along those lines, 70,000 is definitely feasible. They've just about sold out three-day passes and Saturday passes (some stores affiliated with the con are supposed to have a few left), so I think it's safe to say the con will see monster numbers this year.

Re: Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Updates 02/11/13

I just got mine Wednesday from Atomic Comics in Tacoma if any one is near or will be near that area. At that time they had all four flavors of tickets left.

Re: Emerald City ComiCon 2013 - Updates 02/11/13

I'm making a 8 hour drive to ECCC. San Diego is just too damn far for me.

I hope everybody there wears deodorant this year, cause that place is gonna be crammed full of people, hehehe.

Keep an eye out for Lara Croft and Nathan Drake, that'll be me and the misses. The wife is going to be Lumpy Space Princess (Adventure Time) one day,but I'm just not confident enough to dress as Finn, hehehe.
