San Diego Comic Con 2024 who's going?

Any members going?

My first time at SDCC was two years ago, the just-after-Covid mask-wearing one. I could only attend two days due to work.

Last year I couldn't get a badge.

This year for the first time in my life I'll be going all 4 days, and it will be my first "normal" SDCC (no Covid, no Hollywood strike).

About cosplays, I'm doing Dr Henry Jones Senior on Thursday and Saturday which are the California Jones meetup days.

Friday and Sunday are still up for grabs. Probably Ser Barristan Selmy on Friday, maybe Dr John Hammond on Sunday.

Good luck and enjoy. I couldn't get time off even if I could get there this year.

Shoot lots of video!
Thanks!!

About the time off, it's always a challenge.

Let me assure you that retirement IS all it's cracked up to be! 67 years old and my first all-four-days SDCC. It's about time.

About video I guess I'm oldfashioned (or just plain old) and I'm a still-photo guy.

This will be my 39th year volunteering on staff there. And my last. Retiring from volunteering after this Con.

Will be running the How To Room (Room 3) as part of Artist Alley on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Will be there 1pm - 4pm those days, for anyone who wants to stop by. I've also got the San Diego Star Wars Society booth at MZ-15 on the Mezz level, will be there at various times throughout the con. Am on a few panels this year:

Superhero Grief: Coping with Loss Through Superhereos, in Room 3 on Thursday at 12:30pm
Cosplay 102, Taking It To The Next Level and Beyond, in Grand 12 & 13 on Friday at 11am, Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina
Pop Culture and the Christian Church, in Room 7AB on Sunday at 10am.

Over the years I have served in Programming, Line Control, Games, Registration, Security (back when we handled that ourselves), and Artist Alley for the last 7 years, not to mention being a voting Comic-Con Committee member since 2002.

I'll still plan to go as a professional, be on panels, have my booth, but I feel like I've contributed way above and beyond the call of duty and I'm ready to clear up my time there for more enjoyment rather than making the thing happen.

btw, I'll have challenge coins on me to trade, for those who like doing those sorts of swaps.

You miss a lot of you take stills instead of moving shots. Digital cameras have slow shutter response, but switching to hd video will solve that. You can get any stills you want from your video.

As an old film user myself, I realized that I can't beat the convenience of having unlimited shots.

We had Indiana Jones meetups on Thursday and Saturday.

There ended up being three back-to-back meetups on Saturday, because we gathered at the wall (directly inside, between halls D and E) then went outside where somebody bought a Temple of Doom mine-car they weren't allowed to bring inside, then back inside to be joined by people who had been late to the original meetup. We never were able to get everybody in the same photo.

One pic shows me as "shot in the belly" Henry Senior, the Grail Knight, and the pre-shot Henry Senior. I also did a thing where I'm wounded laying down with several Juniors administering the healing Grail water.
