Thanks for the kind comments guys, much appreciated as always.
For those who asked, yes I went with FOD.

Small update, I've made a start on the webs. I'm not entirely happy with my work, I've gotten a bit rusty having not used puff paint in quite some time. I decided to start with the mask which was a mistake. I should've started with the back belt or some area that was not so obvious then it wouldn't have mattered if the lines were a bit rough. Anyways, see what you think:

I understand your frustrations as that's also been my experience with my own suit. However I agree with the others that what you've done looks absolutely amazing! Very beautiful lines on this! Excited to see the whole suit come together!

And as always, thanks so much for sharing all your tips and tricks :)

Looking good Red, suit looks good on you (have you been working out?) haha

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print. (Update 16/7/13)

Have you considered what you're going to do for the spiders?

Thanks man. I've given it some thought but not much at this stage. One option is giving someone a template that's the correct size for Orhadar's print and commission them to make a urethane spider. Another option is for me to try and make one using the latex. Was thinking about making a mold and pouring the latex in. Not sure yet.
I don't think I'll attempt the back spider since the zip is there. That being said if you have a look at ref pics you'll notice that the back spider is outlined in the same colour as the webs so I'm going to outline mine in the latex which should give it a 3D look. Hopefully.

The 1st post on the 1st page should help you dude. There's a picture and everything.

Cheers brother, very kind of you to say so. I've taken up cycling since the last suit and changed my diet a bit but besides that I haven't been working out too much really.

Thanks again everyone, it really helps my motivation when I read all the positive comments.

Redtogusa I'm opening a run for urethane spiders but I need a minimum of 5 orders. In fact I'm working with a friend for this, pm me if int thanks . And I'm not sure for the stuff you used cause there was much mixing you did to achieve that...

Any news red, and I've been meaning to ask how does that latex feel? Slick , rough

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print. (Update 16/7/13)

Hey Red,
When you paint and stop for the day, what do you do in continuation since you have to blend the joints together while still wet?
Like say you do a few sections and stop to let it dry. When you start up again how do you start? Do you just try your best to connect the wet latex to the dry or what? Wouldn't the connection be weak?

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print. (Update 16/7/13)

Yeah that's what I do. So long as overlay they wet with the dry a little bit it seems to work fine.
The other nice thing about the latex is that, although it clings on pretty tightly to the suit, if you pull hard enough you can peel it off and it comes away cleanly and usually in one piece. So if you mess up its easy enough to peel that part off and redo it.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print. (Update 16/7/13)

^The man speaks the truth. I've been playing with latex and my lycra print for a bit and these be accurate assessments of its nature and attitude.

Red, where'd you get your latex thickener? I've got a blend of latex that's meant to be "a bit firmer" than the usual but even so, though I'm getting better at line control it still seems too watery to lay up webs at the right thickness and width. If I knew the proper product name for the thickener I might be able to source it locally.
Cheers.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print. (Update 16/7/13)

I got it from fleabay but I don't think it's going to be much use to you because it came from a UK seller. It was simply labeled 'Latex thickener'.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Small update.
My dancing belt arrived but I don't think I'll bother with pictures of that. Also my slippers Id chosed to line the inside of the boots arrived. The shape isn't exactly what I wanted but I've got a few ideas on how to modify them. Seperating the sole from the slipper is going to be tough, I'm sure Lunaman can testify to that (see his thread).

Been working on the web patterned soles too, I'm not too sure about how it's gonna work out atm but it's still a WIP.

Work on the latex is slow, not because it's difficult to do, although it is at times, just because I lack patience. ;)

...I've also got one glove done.

That's about it for now. Oh I've got some lenses on their way from Joelai and I'm gonna try and make my own face shell, I'm working on the wife to let me get a vaccum former machine to make a red clear plastic one like the one seen in the BTS photo's.

cheers guys,

-Red.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

This is looking outstanding Red! Kudos on trying out and dominating this latex method

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Bloody spectacular. Yea, removing soles is a doozy, I'd go bit by bit with a craft knife and a wedge until there was enough room to start prying with a claw hammer. Definitely the most frustrating part of my last build. Thinking I'll use the same shoes as my last suit for this one, but I really like the toe shape of the shoes you found, looks more accurate. Once again, just when I think I'm starting to get good with my latex test runs, I come here and see an update that blows me away. Wonderful wonderful.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

This is heading in such a great direction, loving the progress!

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Gah I can't wait to get my Orhadar print and start the same process you've done. Bravo man, this looks truly amazing.
