El Fetts ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

I would go with a darker blue color. I see that on most pics. Then the light hits it and we have grey.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

How much did that print end up costing you, taking actually getting printed into account?

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Geez, it's only been a few days? I'm dying for an update haha

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Fraid your gonna have to wait a while for an update.
I've sent it off the be sewn by TW. "What"?! You say? I know it seems pretty crazy to get it sewn before painting it but after giving it some thought it seemed to be the best way to go. It's what I did with the last one so it's what I'm used to.
Plus I wasn't sure exactly how much to stretch the material whereas when it's sewn I can just stick it on a manni which will stretch it exactly the correct amount.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

I hope you show it off a bit with pics before you start with the paint process Red ;)

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Understandable.
When trophywife sends you pics of her updates, will you post them here as well??

Man, I gotta say TW did a great job. I can't wait to get it back in my grubby mits.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

2 reasons.
One, it's close to the actual movie suit setup. Infact the movie suit has two more zippers than mine in the crotch.
Two, those zippers on the neck and wrists are gonna come in real handy after a long day in the suit. Quick on and off with the mask and gloves is the way to go.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

that's fantastic! TW did a terrific job!
can't wait to see you finish this project up :)
mind if I post this pics on my site?

i know but later in the movie you will see NO zipper and i think the best way for a movie accurate costume is with only one or maybe two zippers.
so it's a little bit like a halloween costume which you can buy it from stores ;)..

The zippers are invisible in Redtogusa's suit, so this won't be a big issue.

Possibly but if I wanted it 100% movie accurate I would have a suit that had no neck seam but magically I could pull the mask off whenever I wanted.
You're never going to get a costume to be totally 'as seen on screen' movie accurate.
I come from a star wars costuming background and as such I like to go for costume accuracy, which is different from cgi'd screen accuracy. So for example you never see that Boba Fett has a hard hat liner on the inside of his helmet but that's what I put in.

Plus anyway I'm pretty sure will will still notice the zippers in the final movie anyway.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Looks beautiful! But I wonder, with that much of the spine taken up by zipper (the zips's much shorter on the film suit) how your mobility will be affected with all the reduced stretch in that area. It's an interesting setup, will be nice to see how it performs. Did the extra zippers on the wrists greatly increase the price of the commission?

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

No not by much mate, it was an extra $25.
Yeah its a shame the back zip couldn't be more like the actual suit but TW suggested that it would be a tight squeeze getting into the suit otherwise. I think, as mentioned on another thread that the movie suit is a two piece or at the very least the zips go nearly all the way round the waist. Thats pretty hard to achieve with this type of material.
And yeah I hope mobility isn't lost but I've seen a few suits with zips going all the way from the neck down to the waist so I'm hoping it's going to be ok. We'll see.
