El Fetts ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

I look forward to seeing yours finished man, your ultimate spidey is great.
Thanks, brother. Means a lot, considering your ASM build was the first Spidey build I followed on the site, superb attention to detail. I'm excited for the ASM2 suit, should be a whole 'nother level of difficulty for me.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Effin nice!!!!!!!!!!!
It's looking great! Can't wait to see ya suited up before you work on the webs

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Nice job on the suit! Question for you, are you gonna puff paint the blue brick pattern? If so, are you gonna use gray or navy blue etc.? Keep up the good work.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Nice job red. R u gonna puff paint the the blue brick pattern? If so r u gonna use silver or a type of blue? Thanks

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Wow GREAT!
So with out the back Zipper it would be hard to get into? or that is just to be screen accurate?

This I am still not sure of yet. I will be painting it but what colour it'll be or whether I'll use puff or latex I haven't decided. I keep looking at the pictures and on some the brick looks grey, on others it looks like a dark blue. I will have to experiment.

Not exactly. The zipper is on the back center of the movie suit...

......but because of the unique setup they were able to have the zip going only half way up the back. If TW had done the same on my suit it would've been hard if not impossible to get into. I hope this makes sense.

It does, yeah I saw that on the pics of the movie suit posted before, wasn't sure if you said that TW said it wouldn't without it lol now I understand..... Thanks

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Is it just me or do the webs seem to come out of alignment on the shoulders, in the pics sent by TW? Even if they do, the fit looks so fantastic I'm green with envy.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Today is a good day! This arrived:

Sorry for the bulge......my dancing belt hasn't arrived yet. :facepalm :lol

Again I cannot thank enough Orhadar and TrophyWife for their work. It looks so good in person. :D

Now onto the painting. I always hate the next part because once you start painting your past the point of no return.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

That's what I'm TALKING about! Woo!
How's the stretch in the spine? Good luck with the painting, I'm getting ready to start painting my own soon if things go according to plan. About how many hours do you reckon it took to do the honeycombs on your AMS1 suit? I've heard 80 working hours as a ballpark before, just trying to schedule things out so there aren't too many horrid surprises.

Looking WONDERFUL!

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print. (Update 16/7/13)

Thanks brother,
back stretch is pretty good, I notice no difference from my previous suits in all honesty.
Yeah, 80-100hrs is probably close to what i did. I did an hour or so a day over several months. Think I'm gonna go with the latex you suggested for the webs. The only problem I'm having with it is that it can tend to split, very slightly, on the joins but I've found the solution. A second layer ontop of the first before the first drys adds strength and thickness. Problem with that is it takes double the time. :(

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print. (Update 16/7/13)

Sorry, what are you guys painting on these suits? Are you guys painting the whole suit and with what materials? Just trying to see if I'll have enough time to complete my NEW suit before Balti-con:confused

So I've been practicing with with latex, as opposed to puff paint, for the webs. This method was suggested by Lunaman on another thread somewhere.
Initial results look promising.

The only mask making latex I could get hold of in the UK is a very watery latex. You have to mix in a thickener to get a consistency that's more suitable for applying the webs.
The nice thing is you can add paint to it so you can get exactly the colour you want.

Lunaman suggested the latex from another post he'd seen on another forum. It's a mask making latex. It's also used for mold making.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print. (Update 16/7/13)

So 80 hours on doing the webs. I suppose that's alot of drying time as well!

Right on. At least you don't have to do the honeycomb on the red this time. Thanks for the info.

EDIT:
Oh! And would you care to take a pic of how the wrist zippers are doing? Can you take out your hands easily?
