EFX PCR boba helmet

The overly thick red trim on the front of the Rubies helmet is a deal breaker for me. It's not a bad base Mandalorian helmet, but due to its design and shape I don't like pretending it's an accurate Fett even with a good paintjob.

"Overly thick" in which dimension? And I don't advocate it for the hyper-accuracy obsessed. The fact that it's symmetrical rules it out. The asymmetry on the original is so bad a symmetrical take will never satisfy those who want as close to the original as possible. But since I'm not doing a Boba costume, it suits me perfectly, because its symmetry makes it, IMO, better than the original.

There are stencil kits for the rubies!? Can you link me?!

Not for the Rubues specifically. But RafalFett did stencils for each paint app for the originals. The dome will map easily enough, but the asymmetry of the original means the stencils would have to get distorted to make them fit the Rubies.

I bit. Used my Discover card so if I don't see product in the promised time, I'm covered. I guess I've been lucky. I've only ordered the Vader helmets from eFX but I didn't have to wait long for either version.

Not sure what you're talking about. MR absolutely did use a multi-layering process. They used stencils, laid down a base, stenciled another color, laid down the next stencil and did that color.
MR was decent, but it was a "high end" prop limited edition for its time. This is an "economy class" PCR helmet for cheaper that touts a near perfect paint job on the prototype and i just merely commented that the final product will not look as good as that hand painted prototype, just like all of their other final products don't look as good as their respective prototypes.

I care more about not supporting a dishonest business who repeatedly rips people off than getting a cheap boba fett helmet that may or may not look close to the MR. To me, it's not about buying if from a dealer instead of buying it directly from EFX, it's about not buying at all because they don't deserve my money.
The pattern of "boo! EFX bad! Oooh look new helmet! Gimme Gimme! Boo EFX Bad!! Ooh look new helmet!" is why they can continue to do this and continually rip people off. As long as people keep buying it they have no reason to stop.

The green base will be also sprayed on this helmet.(Gunmetal on the PCR Vader was also sprayed)And the MR was tampo printed from what I know.when you look near on the painted details are looking very similar like the prototype of the new EFX helmet.Not a fanpainted prototype like people said.You can think what you want...but this boba looks great for the price and has a nice lineage.
And about EFX:When they can deliver a prop that I want and I can get it without any risk why should I pass?I was very happy with my PCR Vader that I bought.But I never sent them money direct and will never do that.If you know the rules you can also buy from the bad guys.
When you want licensed SW-props today you have no good options...Anovos is also very bad from what I hear.But I also bought a Kylo helmet from them...but here in my country.I pay some $ more but have no problems like lots of people that wants to safe money with the sales.

It looks like the helmet is made in 3-4 pieces which presumably get glued together to form the main helmet. Dome, Back, Front Mandible section with T-visor, and possibly the Dent itself is a separate piece too if I'm seeing a seam line in there instead of a poorly hidden stencil line...I'm unsure what it really is tbh.. The physical damage looks to be more like an "artist interpretation" of whats there than whats on the actual bucket, but trying to get those details to injection mold might also be tricky I guess. I'm curious how well it retains the true ESB helmet dimensions or if its more a "Good enough" piece together thats meant as a sorta premium version of the one Rubies put out a couple years back

It looks like they've done the ears similar to how Master Replicas did theirs way back. The rangefinder ear is one piece instead of 2 like on the real one, with a backplate that probably screws on. The actual base of the RF ear is a separate piece which is used to help hide the seam line on this side of the helmet.

I almost have to wonder if this is truly the result of conventional linage casting. The only way in my mind they'd be able to create an assembly with overlapping mating surfaces clean enough to link up and somewhat retain the true shape of the helmet would be to go the 3DSCAN/CAD route and then 3d print a prototype from there with all your idealized features which can then be translated to injection molding. Interesting to be sure

Pre-order placed...For the price, that's a pretty nifty looking bucket. While I know it's nowhere near the quality of some of the others offered here, it will look beautiful sitting next to my PCR Vader and Trooper...Not to mention the fact that I won't be worried if my 3 year old somehow gets hold of it.

I know that EFX takes a beating for their delays, etc...But I've really enjoyed the PCR helmets, and hope they continue the line.

$375 is a pretty sweet deal. For most Fett helmets, that barely covers the cost of the paint work. So really, you're getting a plastic helmet, visor, aluminum range finder, and ears for free...

IF......you want a plastic Fett helmet.

I stopped at eFX. After that Biker Scout helmet craziness and finally getting out of my pre-order after a 3 year wait with no product yet, I'll never order from them again.
