EFX Mark IX Science tricorder

Well... the status I got from EE this morning was "back ordered." So I have to wonder if that means they are just still waiting on them or they had too many orders vs. what they pre-ordered. If that's the case... Looks like I'm not getting one :confused

I'm in the same boat. I noticed that they no longer allow you to order; the status indicates "Pre-Sold Out". Hoping we got it in under the wire and they are just waiting for their allotment.

I just learned something interesting about the Tricorder Cover. It looks identical and is exactly the same size as the MR Star Trek Communicator Cover. If I had known that when I bought the Tricorder and if I had an extra MR Comm Cover, I could have saved myself the cost of the cover.

Here's the response I got from EE... I think by this letter, it's indication that we got in on time. I don't think that the number EFX sends them will change at all.

Thank you for your order and the e-mail. As of this moment, EFX is telling us that they will be delivering our agreed upon order to us, sometime in March. The Tricorder holster has started to arrive, so we are hoping that the Tricorder itself will be along shortly, however no specific dates have been provided to us.
The online client account status shows all orders as a backorder, regardless of whether or not it is a pre or backorder. Just a limitation of that program.
The most important thing here is your collection. If you wish to hedge your bets and look for the item elsewhere, we understand and we can cancel your order for you. We would like to be able tp guarantee that we will be able to fill your order, however the manufacturer does have the right to change our order as they see fit. So it is possible that they might deliver a smaller or larger QTY than previously agreed upon. You will have to make up you cost/benefit analysis for this and decide about maintaining the order, or if you want to see if it is in stock elsewhere.
Sorry that we cannot be more concrete, but until the shipment hits our warehouse floor, we cannot be certain of anything.

Thank you for giving us the chance to serve your needs. Please let us know if you have any further questions, or if there’s anything else we can do to help you.

Sincerely,

Edward Haller
Department Manager

Finally, the Mark IX Science Tricorder Curse has been lifted. I just received mine and it is everything I could hope for and more. I have a few high end Mark X Tricorders and I would put this up against them anyday. As other people have mentioned, the weight of this is really something. It makes it feel that much more real.

eFX should really be proud of themselves with this offering and I'm looking forward to see what Star Trek props they will be doing next.

Yep, I think we're all chomping at the bit for the next item now for sure.

What's next?!

Just received my order from EFX - lucky #23!

Fantastic and packaging is top notch. I'm sure someone mentioned it in this long thread but I was especially happy to see the actual number of the run was listed and not just 1000.

Great work EFX!! Looking forward to the McVader delivery sometime in 2011 :)

Sometime before 6pm tomorrow, I'll be joining the club!
Wplusnine, thanks for the pictures. Packaging and extra 'stuff' looks great. :)

Maybe I screwed up but I didnt see the $100.00 deposit credited to my order so I got charged for the full amount. Sent a mail via the web page last week.
Anyone else have this happen?

The Link on our website is for those who have a confirmed pre-order, so the $249 price that you see already INCLUDES the $100 deposit. (The price of the Tricorder is $349)

All orders are checked against the pre-orders so that no one can "sneak in" and attempt to purchase one for $249. In fact if you read the website it clearly states that if you attempt to purchase one without a confirmed pre-order, there will be a $25 fee to process a refund. This is because we still have to pay the bank service and processing fees for the charge.

Thanks!

Bryan

I got mine and it is AWESOME!!!! #112. One thing i thought was very cool was that after it sat for ~2min and went into sleep mode i closed the cover and it still made the ratcheting sound. Thats the little extra attention to detail that impresses me. The packaging is very well executed too. EFX, great job. I can't wait to see what you guys have up your sleeves for us next.

Also, anyone else notice the scanning bar seems a little "in between" orange and pink? Kinda' like it because it makes it more versatile with Voyager and DS9 etc. What do you guys think?

Not sure i see pink but i see a orange/peach for sure. Probably just a matter of different eyes and lighting. I love it because it looks to be just a shade off from the rest of the red LEDs.

Got mine today. Number 88. I am really happy with this piece. It is way better than anything I have in my collection so far. I tried building a Rodd.com kit, scratch building one, and even modified a playmates TNG one. Just like everyone has said, it is heavy! I was really surprised by that. The holster is great and my Rodd.com one fits perfectly too. The videos I have seen of this piece do NOT do it justice. It is bright and the sound is loud and clear. The paint job is great, although probably too shiny for any kind of film work.

I don't know, in no lighting would I call the LEDs red. I concur on the orange/peach.

I got #21 today and it is fantastic. The packaging is very neat along with all the materials. The only knock I have is the plaque size, which is a pretty big screw up. Other than that, I am super happy and sincerely hope they continue with more Trek items.

Ends up I was mistaken, looking at the invoice and my CC things add up now.

Thanks.

I just got mine in today!

So far so good! Great packaging! I almost broke the display brochure before I fount out that it 'slides' out both ways, so be careful on that one.

Unfortunately mine came with a little 'ding' above the f1/f2 button. I don't think it's because of the way it shuts because the bottom part doesn't have any dents or ware on it. Oh, well. glad to see everyone's tricorder looks good.

Oh, dear. Saw a white spot near the I/E buttons and thought it was a speck. It wasn't. What kind of paint should I use to cover it up?

Email or call Bryan at eFX before you do anything, maybe he can help you with the paint codes or even get you a replacement.

Hmm. My silver sharpie oil paint looks about the same. It's pretty tough on some surfaces in that it doesn't melt onto plastic I frame it on. But if I do that, byebye warranty. What do you guys think? Should I dabble the bad spots or send her back for repairs?

I'd definitely call eFX and see what they say about it first. I know I'd be disappointed if I had a mark like that on mine.

Hey Jeyl!

There is not need to use a sharpie to fix it! Let us replace it for you! You should not have to do that , though I do appreciate you for making an effort to "fix" it!

If you use a sharpie or paint, then it is going to look like touch up paint on a car, that looks horrible. (Or maybe that is just my painting skill!)

And you know, silver is almost always IMPOSSIBLE to match.

Send me an email at customerservice@efxcollectibles.com and I will take care of you!

Thanks!

Bryan
