When MR first started selling Lightsaber replicas, they gave you the choice of ordering with ot without the case. I would buy them without and use my own display method that used up less space. Later they only sold them with the case. Once you pay for the case, you feel obligated to use them and get your money's worth. I guess i could have tries to sell them but I don't like breaking up a collectible set. Once I started getting cases, I felt that my earlier MR sabers needed the cases to match the others in my collection so I turned to Ebay and bought from people who made replica MR cases and plaque stands.
As far as this reveal saber goes, yes it is cool. However for what it is and the cost, it is more than I desire. I would have been happy with a cheaper version which simply did what you saw in the scene... a sliding control panel and working LEDs that blinked when touched by a tool (an included replica tool would have been a nice touch). I wouldn't mind a fan made version of the saber if someone did on like that.
