eFX Gets Star Trek License

I've been watching that bar like a hawk - for all the wrong reasons, I guess. The economy has me in employment stasis, and I'm holding off as long as possible before I pull the trigger on one of these; the landlady and the light company would not approve.

I'm doomed to order, but I just can't until I hafta. I'm guessing I'm not alone in that.

From the looks of the bar, I would have guessed it is close to 500 now. While I was psyched to get a low order number, EFX has already made it clear on this thread that the order numbers do not reflect your actual number in the queue. I suspect order number 10250 would just mean you were the 250th person to order ONLINE, and doesn't take into account phone orders, or outside authorized dealer sales. Just my guess.

Also, I am really hoping EFX offers holsters for sale on their webpage when these things are avail. That would be sweet.

They will probably offer them at the same time they offer the cover, when you pay the balance and shipping. If you look at some of the dealers that are selling the Tricorder, they usually have someplace you can click to buy the holster and/or the cover.

Just noticed that a few seconds ago. Found this in case anyone is interested:

"Description by eFX Collectibles:

• Based on the holsters worn by the actors to carry their Tricorder
• Injection Molded ABS
• Authentic U.S. Military "G.I. Alice Clip/Belt Slides" Belt Loops (Note: Since these are authentic military components, finish will vary)
• Felt and Foam lined interior"

What are you referring to? The tricorder is from First Contact and the latter seasons of DS9 as is the holster, and I hear that TOS may be next.

I recall reading they will be working on a TOS phaser, a TWOK phaser, a Vor'cha class studio scale, and a smaller scale TOS Enterprise studio model for next year. I am looking forward to the TWOK phaser myself.

As far as Star Trek ships go, I'm happy to hear that they'll be doing the Klingon D7. It will go well with my MR Enterprise.

In terms of props, I would love it if eFX did the laser pistol from The Cage with sound and lights, extending and rotating barrell, etc. Oh, and if the ratcheting sound of the force ring can be captured, that would be fantastic as well... That's always been one of my favorite Star Trek props and I would buy one in a heartbeat!

As much as I would love to see them redo the TOS phaser i'm glad there doing the TWOK phaser and hopethey will continue and do a STIII phaser and so on, we've never had the later in liscenced form and they would be great to own, maybe they'll do a old trek and new trek run at the same time, releasing Phasers and trice from the original movies as well as the next gen movies.

And I hope they release the holster for sale by itself, I'd buy acouple just to put my tric collection in!

The Vor'cha is not the D-7. Vor'cha is from TNG and later, D-7 is the classic Klingon Battle Cruiser from TOS (later appears as the "K'T'inga" in TMP and later).

I thought I read that the report of eFX doing the Vor'cha was in error and that they were actually going to be doing the D-7...

Admittedly the Vor'cha was an ODD choice, since probably the Bird of Prey, D-7 and K'T'inga would all outsell it. :rolleyes

I find a lot of EFX's choices a bit odd. I don't want to knock to company, because I respect everyone involved, but look at their Star Wars license.

Their first lightsaber was Asoka from the Clone Wars. A CGI minor character from a show that had hardly begun when the prop was launched. With no real prop to replicate and no pre-existing fan base for the character.

Then they went with the Vader McQuire helmet. Which, although it is sort of cool looking in its own right, seems to be a less obvious choice then say, Darth vader from any of the original Star Wars movies.:eek

I'm sure they know what they're doing. But I can't figure it out:lol

While I did think it was an odd choice, I also thought they were doing something for TNG fans. With a TOS phaser, a TWOK phaser, and a smaller TOS 1701 model, I thought they were just mixing things up wtih a TNG ship. But D-7 would make sense as well, since MR had one planned and never went ahead with it. And they seem to be really just doing the same stuff MR did, the TNG tric, TOS phaser, and TOS Enterprise were all done by MR already. EFX is just either redesigning them or doing a slightly different take on them or just picking up where MR left off. If it weren't for the TWOK phaser, I would say EFX was just being lazy. But, I guess, the market is what it is. There are certain things that will sell over and over again and some that won't ever sell at all. So they have to put as much resources into what they know will be in demand.

Don't forget, the TNG Tricorder was a complete mess from MR, only slightly more than 200 got out, so they are helping those of us who never got theirs get one. As for the TOS Phaser and TOS Enterprise, they have not yet said they are going to do them, except for the small desk top version of the Enterprise. So, except for the Stormtrooper Helmet and the TNG Tricorder, everything they have done has been new.
