eFX ANH DARTH HELMET SAMPLE!!

the newest batch of helmets are being shipped with felt over the helmet and face mask. They aren't "bags" but just a 9"x9" (?) piece of felt laid over the tops to prevent any rubbing damage.

Glad it took me a minute to get the cc information straightened out!

To Clutch... Couldn't you polish both domes then use soapy water to wash the polish back off of one? I would think that would get you back close to where you started...

I understand the want for an 'out of the box' finish... But it's worth a shot.

I can't believe you bought 2 for that purpose... But at the same time... I get it! LOL.

Just came in today #109. Kinda glad I got them allittle later than you guys thereby passing most of the glitches . The box seemed well handled and the face/dome were covered with black cloth this time around with a another peice of cushion on top of that to prevent rubbing. Quick look at the craftmanship which seems to be pretty good with just a few minor noticables. I'll post pics later tonight.

Does anyone else notice these all vary in dome height? I got mine yesterday... and it had the cloth too (must have figured out the straight foam wasn't the way to go ;)) but my dome sits way too low... and I've noticed all of the other pictures show some higher and one other I noticed were lower like mine? But mine is the lowest I have seen yet. The dome being lower too has chipped the paint off the nose ridge :( The point should (based on prototypes and some others I've seen) end right at the upper third notch... mine goes down low enough it rests in between the third and second?

I wrote EFX, I think the mounting ring in the dome is 'off' and I want a replacement dome for sure. I hope they can work that out?

One of my lenses was scratched too...

Other than those issues I am very happy with this helmet. Definitely the BEST Licensed Vader yet!! It cracks me up there are so many complaining about the $1,000 price... I remember in 1997 the Don Post Deluxe Vader was like $1,500!

They do sit a bit low on the mask (depending on which scene in the movie you are going for), but I believe one or two folks have put something in there as a spacer to raise it up. I know one did for sure. So that is probably what you are seeing in certain poster's photos.

My rings definately out of place. You can't capture the look without a properly spaced dome to mask. And why bother asking for another when your probably gonna wind up to something similar with the same problem again. I've done this a few billion times so I'm just gonna rip the ring out myself and reposition it accordingly :lol. My attached ring right now would be more likely suitable for an ESB shot.

What does it matter? You're gonna strip it anyway.

It's just reassuring to know a manufacturer actually cares and listens to complaints and takes care of the problem expeditiously. :) I'll have the face plate stripped by the end of the month guaranteed for we (all) Vader anthropologists to scrutinize:eek. I indeed have some reservations about the dome now that I've seen it 1st hand. Most notably are the bottom flang egdes, not the curvature shape. Instead of it being angled, it was nearly sanded FLAT.......... One of 3 issues immediately observed. Very nice helmet overall though.:thumbsup

Hey Howard, mind showing us a photo of your helmet? I've been curious about dome height as well, as a couple helmets shown appeared to have the dome a bit high, whereas others seem fine. I prefer it in the scenes in ANH where it was a bit lower than usual, perhaps yours is like that?

Hello all. This is my first post but I have been reading the rpf on and off for about 7 years. I don't have a side in the "Great C-Scar Debate" :lol:lol but just wanted to ask a question to Sithlord or anyone else that would like to answer. Is the area that I marked in white the area that is in question? When looking at the photo of the mold from EFX, if you look closely there is almost a variation in color in the photo that looks like there could have been something there. What I'm talking about looks like a light gray color variation in the photo

Well personally I think it very well could be because it is in the right place, but because of the poor image quality, I just focused on what I could see for certain, namely the base of the "C" or "L" detail. But yes perhaps it is wise to save discussion of this for another time and place, suffice to say that perhaps we might be surprised to see a remnant of the scar there after all in the raw casting. Of course for those who have their castings already it might be something to look for.

Sure, forgive the poor photos... took them fast for EFX to see.

Here's how low the dome sits:

And this is the scratch on the lenses (notice the bridge chip):

The only scene I recall his dome was low was in Leia's cel. The rest of the movie his dome is rather high and almost hanging off in two shots ;)

You really have to see the brows on the actual facemask to be correct... this is way too low. I really do love this helmet so I hope EFX can help with the dome issue.

Sorry gang, I'm really late to the game here..but from what I gather the pictures here are the Legend edition ANH Vader helms that are listed as sold out at the eFx website? And a late comer like me is pretty much SOL when it comes to getting one new - as the resellers will only carry the limited version?

These were all bought for 999$ directly from efx. Ebay got hit with Legends at 1600$ at first but now they're more around 2300$!!! :-/
