Actually, the dome as it is packaged is sitting on its own foam pedestal, and there is space separating the outer dome surface from the outer lower foam half, but the upper foam half has these little bumps in the patterns you see forming in the paint and it is those bumps that, when in contact with the paint surface (which probably would need more time to cure) reacts to form the pattern, and it cannot be rubbed away without affecting the paint surface.

Darth Stone, I think you're right there might be a problem with the paint of some helmets.
Many factors could be possible to explain the EFX paint flaw on the dome.
shipping distance + weather + dome with no clear coat + small felt too thin + possible abrasive packaging contact + vibration during shipping + possible bad handling from a postman who can drop the box
The Master Replicas ROTS dome is glossy with a strong clear coat so It had a durable finish during shipping with a very good felt bag compare to the EFX.
I'm sure EFX did a good job with the packaging design but they didn't expect the shipping vibration or pressure on the dome would do this to some of the helmets.

I got mine last saturday. Got it out of the box and noticed the right cheek face looked off. But didnt want to make a fuss. So, I put in the E4 Blu ray and started watching-hey, what do ya know! Those odd discolorations on mines' cheek are acreen accurate! Look at that!

I got my notice from redfordfilms that my card will be charged for the Limited Vader on friday and they will start shipping next week. Even though its just the limited, I can hardly wait for this to show.
