Hope this helps,

The ANH dome shouldn't be as shiny as the ESB or ROTJ versions if you're going for accuracy.
It's shiny, but not uber shiny.
Depends on the scene but the bright studio lights influence the way it appears on film.
It's amazing just how much the ANH can start to look like the ESB when the dome is a high gloss.

Cool. More pics if you can. I think we sometimes underestimate the gloss due to everyone focusing on the Tantive scenes. Death Star Vader often appeared more glossy.

Little off topic, but man Gino, all 4 of those shots hint at the left outer side of the mouth grill having been gunmetal like the right don't they?

Mine is getting in my hands tomorrow. Cant wait to see it. Seems like for the most part a lot of positive reactions. :) For those who received there helmet already is there any room at all for dome adjustments? Can someone take a pic of the holding ring inside the dome? That would be great. :)

This is off topic too, but like many Vader fans, I have often wondered about the paint scheme as well. We know WHY they chose to paint the accents gunmetal: so some of the details would pop and appear on camera.

After looking at Gino's pics, I am wondering if they originally painted the entire left cheek gunmetal, and subsequently wiped it off after a second thought - thus leaving the little bit on the edge (and possibly having something to do with the C-Scar).

More on-topic, I received my helmet today.

I'm not a Vader expert, but I think it is excellent overall. It's hard to believe this came out of a factory setting. The detailing is impressive.

I do want to add my voice to those expressing dissatisfaction with the packing materials. The bare bead foam was a poor choice. Although the paint on mine suffered no real damage, I can see how it easily could have, from rubbing against that stuff. On the inside of the dome, there is shredded bead foam residue ground into the texture of the fibreglass, from being rubbed against it during handling, which is going to be annoying to get off. I'm surprised there wasn't SOMETHING between the foam and the helmet. MR packed the Muppet replicas extremely well - vacuformed support, with a velvety fabric being the only thing coming in contact with the figure. I think something like that would have been a good idea for this helmet.

The dome was polished up at some point late in the production it appears. I prefer this glossy heavily handled smudged look from Tant IV. rather than a Satin finish anyway. I'm gonna follow suit.

I agree since the Tantive scenes were filmed last. The should have at least wrapped the parts in tissue paper.

I like this but it looks a little to perfect i think. On the screen used helmet i think it does look a bit shinier than EFX but to me the screen helmet looks like it was brushed on and then polished and not spray painted.

Received mine today and it has the same type scuff mark as Avenger's and MK Ultra's does. The foam rubbed against it. You can see the paint residue on the packing material. I cannot believe that at least the dome was not wrapped in something to protect it. I'm wondering if it will disappear is I polish it. It's subtle, but I see it, and it annoys me.

Other than that, the helmet is pretty nice. I won't post pics. Nothing to see in mine that isn't seen in the others. My only disappointment, aside from the scuff mark, is the softened detail in the dome. I was comparing it to my fan-made helmet and I'm really suprised, when comparing the same details in one versus the other, at how much sharper the detail is in that fan-made helmet. Maybe the paint was applied too heavily to the Legend, softening those characteristics. I don't know. But there is a big difference. I had also hoped earlier on that the weathering would be a bit heavier, ala Tantive IV. It's pretty clean looking.

It's a nice helmet. But having it in hand, I think I would've been just as happy with the Limited. I just don't see the extra $200 there. Still a nice piece, though.

Got mine today and have some seriously mixed feelings. I was so excited waiting for it to arrive and now i doubt i will even set it up. I understand cleaning up a few areas but to remove every ding and divot especially the well known ones is a bummer. I can't see how they could have cleaned it up anymore. I am going to join the crowd who doubts this casting is any different from the limited one. Everything mark, divot, ding we discussed in the other thread is gone. I don't think the legend was worth the extra $200. The signature and litho are not worth it to me. I was expecting to see some kind of marks on it and there are pretty much none. I think the Legend name is just a money getter. Instead of having the final word on Vader helmets i find myself considering selling this for big bucks. You guys with those nonlicensed fan pulled jobbers have nothing to be unhappy with. I kinda wished i had a nonlicensed pull rather than this guy, or even better the version i am sure Gino has that is straight from the RB molds. He seems to be the only one that actually got a "legend". There was talk of cleaning but you didn't have to get the bleach out.
On a another minor note but one that bugs me a bit too is that they send out an email saying "We will be allocating the helmets in the order that the pre-orders were received" and i get edition #359. I was not one of the ones who had to have their orders added to the edition size but i get the 6th from last one? Apparently they were not allocating in the order the preorders were received. I know some don't care about edition sizes but some of us do and that is lame. It's not like EFX is some super busy company and can't take a few days to make some kind of effort to ship lower number editions to earlier orders. Call me a beeotch but i feel what was advertised is not what we got. "minor cleanup" my rear end. Rant off!

Zombie,
So sad to hear your review .. have you found any physical problems with your lid yet? Blemishes, rubs or anything?

You know, if you're not happy with it, order a fan sculpt, and resell the Legend .. you should make up much more than was invested!! That would pay well enough for the fan made one!

My review may be a bit harsh but i was super excited to take a look at all those blemishes we all craved for and discussed in length only to get something that has none of them. I was just expecting a bit more of the Baker molds to show. What was the point? Might as well made them all limited. I am going to wait a week or 2 and then decide if i will sell it.
I didn't see anything major by way of rubs or defects. Honestly I was not really looking for them today. I was looking for the "Legend" in it. I'll give it a good look over tommorow. Well at least i can hope i get a good neuralizer on thursday. I usually have good luck on props but this one and the tfa helmet i got couple weeks back have really turned my luck around. Hopefully they don't come in three's.

I'm curious to know if theres still alot of dudes waiting for thier shipment or tracking numbers or even yet, still in limbo with no reciept from the PDF balance sheet EFX requested returned ?

Haven't received mine yet, but is it at all possible or conceivable that there was a factory screw up, and Limited (cleaned up) castings got mistakenly sent for the Legend paint job?

Glad somebody said it bluntly. "Minimum clean-up" my arse. Oh, well. Just another example of hollow promises. Over-promising and under-delivering. It IS nice. It is. But it is NO legend. I feel a little mislead with this. There's no way that this can be viewed as "Legend" or minimally cleaned up. Nice licensed helmet. But that's all. And I never had a dog in the Fan-cast versus eFX fight. I have a fan-cast, but never entered into the fray. It never mattered to me much, until this helmet arrived. I learned a lesson. I have a decent helmet. But it will likely be sold.

THAT is an interesting possibility. If that's the case, then I can understand why the details are so soft or lacking. Interesting. Expensive fix with all the shipping back and forth if that's what happened.
