excellent work all around!
Bump with boots before they get their kneepads. Buckles fully held by tension. Since they're aluminum, the magnet trick would be a little tough to pull off anyhow. But for a set of starter boots I'm very pleased. With the boots and guns together I still have less than $300 in the costume so far.
My best friend's wife has a sewing machine that can handle 28oz+ leather and plenty of experience in leatherworking and saddlemaking so I asked her to make my kneepads. We'll see how it turns out.
But seriously for folks who read this. I couldn't find an online photo of the Timerider boots I talked about before but if anybody has info on those, I would love to know.

Here's my new stainless steel plates. Not cheap at all but can't wait to get them on the Motor Cowboys coming.

They are called Cable Bales. You can make stopgaps from coat hanger wire or any similar wire until you can get some professionally bent and PVC coated for accuracy.
That's what I did to replace the 2 missing bales on my boots. A little sandpaper brings the copper finish right back to steel and makes for a working stand-in or if you need mockups before the real deal.
