EFNY Snake Plissken Boots

Who is doing the pants, are they accurate ?

Looks excellent, man! But you're really going to have to beef up those guns. ;)

For my (small) part, I decided my size 16 Alpinestars weren't going to work, but it turns out there aren't any vintage MX-riding giants looking for boots on eBay. :(
ugh!!!! i know! for this AND my wez costume. i've gotten SOOO skinny over the last couple years. need to hit the weights like crazy!

I think you're absolutely correct, Sigma-LS. $350 seems totally reasonable. Really surprised they're nor already in mass production.

WHERE ARE THESE JAPANESE PLATES!!?? i can't find them on the website. does anyone have a link or pics??? we ARE talking about the macleod site that sells the pants, correct???

That's kind of what I was asking. Are they just one size, materials, quality etc?

Same here on wanting a pair of shin plates.

The guy in Japan who is making the pants also makes shin plates but is asking 350.00 per pair.

Looking at the Motorcowboy boots - are these leather snaps attached already or do you have to have them attached? And if so, what are they called so I can order them?

just to be clear, these are NOT the motorcowboy boots. these boots belong to jon8712's, that were custom made (very $$$$) from the designs of the original bootmaker of plisskens boots. the motorcowboy boots do not have this type of buckle on them. BUT, to answer your question, they are just pieces of leather riveted (with double cap or speed rivets) to anchor the cable attachment. i was on the fence about getting the motorcowboy boots, but they're just not accurate enough for me. i'm having mine custom made at shraderbootmaker.com and am attaching the ski boot buckles myself.

the buckles are hard to come by, even on ebay, but the cable bale's are COMPLETELY custom made. bent and crimped mini-tubing and pvc coated cable

thanks bdude93 - appreciate that. The boots are so disheartening when it comes to this costume - I've dealt with some pretty prop-heavy parts, but this one's the biggest challenge so far. but it'll be done. Incredible work, btw.

yeah, they are a pain, but will be SOOO rewarding when we finally get em'. were you looking into getting the motorcowboy boots? once mine are done (roughly about a month or so) i'll post pics. i've already got my buckles ready to rivet on and i have a SFX artist ready to scuplt and mold the front shin plate. i'm getting them in resin. i can't swing the $700 blacksmiths want to do it in metal.

yeah for sure. $700 is out of my range too. Keep me posted for sure. Don't know whicj boots I want yet, but gonna start with that first, then the buckles.

Bdude,

Will Shraderbootmakers make more of those in Plessken's boot style? Or is this a one off?

SPY

i'm sure he would, he's a custom bootmaker. we don't have any kind of one off deal, at all. and i much prefer using someobody like shrader because ALL contact is with the bootmaker himself AND your satisfaction is guaranteed at HIS expense. and i've heard things about lack of contact once motorcowboy has your money. idk...

but yeah, you can feel free to contact shrader boots, or wait for me to post pics when i get mine. he's making them with out any latching attachments, just giving me some extra scrap for the little leather tabs that anchor the cable. i'm more then able to attach all that stuff myself BUT if someone else wasn't, you could probably inquire on his abilities to do so, if you have buckles to provide.

just wondering what you meant by Motor cowboy taking money and no contact!? Has anyone ever received a pair or had problems dealing with them? Noticed there's no comments on their page.

i'm going off of what jon8712 told me, regarding some kind of star wars boots, i believe. he could probably provide further details. i personally have never dealt with them. but the general sentiment i've seen on here is that their quality is good, but accuracy is for ****.

I remember somebody saying they were having a hard time finding some of the old metal golf cleats?

I have a couple sets of brand new ones. PM me if you need some.

does anybody know where the inaccuracy with the boots are? in their ad pic they look fine. Snake's boots in film are so poorly lit. really want these done right.

From the information I've found, Stephen Manley did painstaking research to have these boots made (which included a magnifying glass), and this is according to Hector De La Rosa. I feel safer having Motor Cowboy making my pair than having to start from scratch with someone else. He told me that he is going to make the boots to my specifications, and that includes having them open at the sides like Alpinestars Hi Point boots so it will be easier to tuck pant legs.
