DW's Iron Man Mark 3 build

Awesome post, this is turning out to be one high quality build. Do you have any pics on how the helmet and jaw opens?

Darren, the care and work you put into the prep and assembly that I've seen in your clone builds tells me that this is going to be something special. Look forward to seeing some more pictures soon.

Thanks guy's for all the kind words. No, I am not the maker of this suit kit.
I've been out of town for a few days. Hopefully I can get back to the build this weekend.
I really want to debut it at Comic Con this year which starts July 11th.

Moving along with more photo's. The helmet arrived assembled and is really cool. It's a 4 piece which allows the faceplate to move up and the jaw to move down. I cut the chest and back apart into two pieces. There was a cut line on the side and I cut the top section out per the photo attached. As far as the paint I haven't figured that out yet. I am going to prime it with rattle can primer today. I would LOVE to use automotive paint but I haven't really looked into that yet.

Your helmet arrived assembled? How'd that come about? Be glad it did, the hinge system takes a bit of work to get right and everything lined up correctly.

I'm new here so forgive me for asking, but wheredid you get the armor from? If I read correctly it looks like you bought it and you are finishing it?

that suit is amazing!!!! the reference pics helps a lot this is what i was looking for how to join the chest an shoulders :) i

I'm having some issues with the shoulder armor. I cant raise my arm up because of the area circled. Anyone else ever had this issue? I'm not sure if my shoulders are too wide or not wide enough. I hate doing it but I'm going to have to round off the corner a bit.

Mine is going to be for a display in my movie room, not for wearing. I learned my lesson wearing a Hansing Robocop suit. That had far fewer pieces than this does and was restrictive as hell. You've got guts wearing this thing Dude. I'd trim that no problem if it's hindering your movement. You'll never see it anyway.

The illuminating eyes are done with 12" x 1.25" electroluminescent panel / EL tape.
My buddy Ed pointed me in the right direction for this item. It can be purchased on ebay and they come in different color's. I choose the white one. You will also need to purchase the 9 volt adapter. The nice thing is this can be cut down to fit. I trimmed a bit off to allow it to go in the helmet. I will need to position the strip down a bit when I wear the helmet. The ebay link is below the photo.

Just to confirm, you can cut say a few inches off the non-lead end and it will still carry a current through the strip just fine?

Is there a need to seal off the cut end with clear tape, etc.?

I picked up one of these setups just because of your thread, and it looked awesome in my test fit. I was blown away to see it in person, so thanks for posting the info! I will probably take it another step and further diffuse the lightstrip with some white frosted plastic in front of it.

More! I want more pictures! These solutions are so simple and yet so effective. What a pleasure to read this thread.

And in Post #1 he clearly said...

PLEASE DO NOT ASK OR POST THE MAKERS NAME IN THIS THREAD.

:facepalm

I gotta say, while I love the enthusiasm of most of the newer (last couple months) members, I kinda wish we were back to closed registration.

What do you plan on using to mock your suit up as you build it? Are you going to use a mannequin?

Hello everyone, sorry for the delay in the build. I had a huge project fall in my lap and they needed it done ASAP. I signed a ND so I cant really talk about it but here is a pic.
I will get back to my IM build today.
