Dune (2021) Still Suit build

So yeah that is fantastic! Considering the real work started on August 31…. I am blown away. Great work!

Thoughts on the film?

Phew...
Still a bit exhausted from the whole experience, so just a few quick pix.
The current version of the suit with a bit of painting and weathering added. There are so many little things I would like to have added...
But still happy I got that far for the premiere.

Here with an added "jubba-cloak" and nosetube in front of the cinema:
(I really needed the cloak, because the backside of the suit is a bit ugly with lots of straps and buckles...:p)

The movie was pretty impressive, still gotta let it sink in...
Kull wahad!

Thanks a lot! Yeah, it was quite a sprint. (Though I admittedly started the research as soon as the first pictures and teasers were released...)

Thoughts on the film are hard to write down in short.
The mere scope of the movie is really gigantic. I love the set design and the costumes. And there are a lot of little details that Villeneuve implemented that will make all fans truely happy.
But still I left the cinema a bit melancholic - and I'm not really sure why. Maybe it's because I already knew the whole plot in advance so there were no real "surprising twists" (but this was to be expected, of course) . Maybe it's because now I'm really longing for part 2 (which is not sure to happen...)
I'll surely watch the movie again shortly and hopefully I'll be able to supply some better insights after that...

But what can surely be said right away: This is definetely "the" Dune - the same way Jackson's Lord of the Rings is simply the one movie-adaptation that people will ever associate with the book. At least it will be for me ;)

Here are some reference pictures I do not think were seen before.

What shoes did you use for this?

What shoes did you use for this?
They are just makeshift...
Some old combat-boots I had lying around. The front part of the sole was at least a bit reminiscent of the screenused ones:

I think there was someone pointing out that the production might have used some sort of water-shoe or trail-running shoe. But so far I haven't seen any real match...

My files are up (I created a new thread for everyone to see)

Pictures attached for reference , I got insider information to make these a reality hopefully they see good use by others than just me.

Muddler Excellent costume!! I am a life long fan of the book series, so I'm cautiously optimistic about the movie. I've read all the books multiple times, but previous movies/miniseries/games have all fallen flat. You're costume looks really great!!

Thanks a lot for the nice words! The build was a lot of fun - especially figuring out how the parts work together.
But XavNZ92's build admittedly takes it to another level regarding the accuracy ;)
Still I'm pretty sure I'll try to upgrade my suit (especially with a more proper textile undersuit).

And i am finally done with the chest ! just need to dirty it now !

The designers deserve an Oscar for this as its is over engineered to a point.
Here are a few details of the build.
-6+ layers of thin foam (3mm or less) and neoprene , rubber ,PVC tubing and rivets.
-3 meters of tubing were used.
-The layers are sandwiched and fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.
-I had to mold the parts over my body blasting it with a heat gun while on me.

I watched the video a couple times did they detail what it was made from?
They don't but it's HD foam and rubber.

Most of the designs were by WETA workshop then sent to the US and Europe for fabrication.

That source is internal
thanks , so much to this one . Trying to figure all the layers out
I might actually make a video detailing how it's layered and put together because figuring that out was not easy task.

There's like 6 layers in total in some places.
