Limited Run Droid Caller - Precision Machined Kit

Would it be possible to offer a second version that is Luke's with a stepped transition on the top section and a smooth bottom with a smooth edge plus a convex, chromed dome with a hole in the center was added onto the top end of this droid caller prop

As said on Parts of Star Wars :)

I could do another run on that version, or maybe I could make an upgrade kit that would just swap out parts,
that wouldn't be able to happen for a few months though, I will be busy after the DL44 run in February,

Finishing up the bottom caps, just have to mill the knurl and engrave the serial numbers

Will be starting the bottom knobs this weekend

I want one so bad...I've been wanting one for years and they are perfect, but it's gonna be a few months and whatever the full price will be after they are in full production. It doesn't matter though because I will still get one lol.

Hey everybody…
So, I’m still a relative n00b here at the rpf and I really don’t know if I’m stepping out of line by even asking this question, but I need to take a second here in this thread to kinda’ make my plea for a little HELP from one of you with regards to this great project that the talented dmachinist is heading up…

Y’see, I’ve ordered TWO droidcaller kits from dm (for my SW & TESB Han Solo outfits) and I really want the assembling (and finished look / paintjob / distressing) of them both to be Top Notch:
Hooked up with the battery for the light/buzzer, black wrinkle paint on the ANH Version, distressed look, the whole meal deal…

Now, dm is CLEARLY doing HIS part to provide us all with great parts to make finished pieces.
So, MY only problem is the fact that I have NO creative or crafty skills for doing this sort of thing.

Like… ZERO

I am completely without experience with these kinds of projects and I’m really worried that if I’m left to my own devices with this, that I’ll be the guy who WANTED “Top Notch” but who (thanks to his lack of experience and skills with this sort of thing) ended up turning it INTO ‘Bargain Basement” looking…

So, what I want to know is IF there’s somebody here who’s already IN on this Project and who can help me out:
Is there someone HERE who’s ordered one of these who is experienced with the sort of work it’ll take to make these things look as GREAT as I know they can?

IF so (and IF that’s YOU), what I’D like to do is just ask that you send me a little pm letting me know a little about yourself; like how many build/assembly projects like THIS one that you’ve done, WHERE in the U.S. or Canada you reside, your level of experience (and maybe a couple of photos of something you’ve worked on in the past, perhaps? Ideally, showing off your skills in finalizing a project like this one?)

THEN what I’m proposing is that I’d be asking dm to mail my completed order to YOU so that you can assemble it/set-up the wiring/apply the wrinkle-paint and use whatever tricks you like to use to give it that great Star Wars “lived-in” look.
And then, AFTER that, I’d be asking you to mail it along to me (I’m in Nova Scotia, Canada)

Upon completion of the pieces, I’d be sending you payment for your effort (my budget would allow for $50.00 U.S. – not exactly a pot of gold, but not bad for what I assume would be a total of only a few hours work for you)
PLUS I’d send along payment for the cost of mailing it to me, of course…

So… does anyone have any thoughts on what I’m suggesting?
Do people ever arrange the sort of thing I'm suggesting?
I’m just a guy trying to get some great looking droid callers by way paying a little extra for the skilled efforts of one of the RPF’s talented members, folks… but I sure don’t want to ‘overstep’ with suggesting this kind of arrangement…

Any feedback is VERY welcome.
THANKS for reading

Holy CR*P!!! How did I miss this thread until now? After building my DL-44 with the last parts run, how could I possibly turn this down? Payment sent - Order 504
