DRIVE (2011) Scorpion Satin Jacket

I think we'll be doing the gloves too. They are such a simple and classic design, it'd be a shame not to add them to our site. I'll post info when the prototypes are finished.

-Magnoli

I can't believe where finally gonna be able to buy a costume without too much effort . I mean, Magnoli will be making it, which I believe is a challenge, but still, nobody will have to mold stuff on their own or look for days on e bay for an item.

Of course, the only tricky part has to be the vintage henleys shirt and custom Patek Philip watch, but overall, we can almost buy everything from the boots to the jeans, jacket, gloves and sunglasses.

Well, its cool we have an affordable replica but does anyone know if Lim himself over at High Society is taking orders? I know he does custom tailoring and I would rather have the original maker produce me one (even if it did not have the scorpion on the back) rather than buy a replica....

Refer to post #25 in this thread. It touches on contacting Lim

Hi guys been reading this thread and went on the steady clothing blog, looks like they have an original as reference http://blog.steadyclothing.com/
It's a nice jacket just not for me, but thought that link might help some you.
Also I imagine the Magnoli jacket will be way nicer than the Steady as his stuff will be made to order, not mass produced in China or LA garment district. Or at least fitted correctly.

The poster was told to get in contact with the film designer and that the design was copyrighted. I'm sure that lim can produce an original, using the same fabric and patterns just without the scorpion on the make. I have heard that he is not super expensive either so for just a few bucks more we may be able to secure a custom fitted original from the guy who made them. I just don't know if the scorpion design can be replicated legally due to the copyright. I will call their shop tomorrow and try to find out what's what...

"In honor of the jacket we fabricated for the new release of the film “Drive”, here is a few snaps of the classic car infestation of Route 66 in San Bernardino, CA this last weekend."

So Steady Clothing was actually also involved in the making of the screen used jacket? Probably that's why they mention it as "official".

Steady Clothing Inc.
The Official Replica "Drive" Jacket is here! Expecting to ship by Nov. 15th 2011

Benach also revealed that when all was said and done, there were 13 versions of the fashion piece made for the star during filming. And, fans of the jacket may not have to wait very long to own their own version.

“You just might be able to find them online soon,” teased Benach.

Saw that too... Maybe Lim just took measurements and created a proto that was sent to Ready clothing for film production ?...

From Steady"s own company bio

" Steady has broken into the entertainment and media spotlight. Steady has outfitted and created merchandise for the likes of Jessica Simpson, Green Day, Davey Havoc (AFI), Matthew Fox (Lost), Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne, The Living End, The Brian Setzer Orchestra, and the hit HBO television show Entourage. Known for cut-and-sew garments, Steady Clothing has now expanded its expertise to include custom silk screening, unique fabrics, embroidery, and custom buttons to the private sector. With applications to tees, hats, hoodies, zip joggers and more, the possibilities are endless. The brand’s unique style can be found outfitting the staff of the House of Blues, the The Yard House, The Improv and many local bars and restaurants throughout the United States and Canada. Steady Clothing has truly become a one-stop shop for all of its clients’ custom clothing needs. "

so I think they may have actually made the jacket for production...

I emailed Get Go Retro late last night and woke up to response this morning from a Cathy L.. I was asking about sizes, measurements etc. this is what was said:

" Hi,

The company is sending me an official size chart next week. There is ample time if you would like to wait to order. This way you can be sure. They wanted to make sure they had confirmation on correct sizing before it was sent to us.

Hope that answers your question : )

Cath"

So good and quick communication. I think I will use them for my purchase. http://www.getgoretro.com/DriveScorpionJacket.htm

From Steady...

"The jacket used in the film was designed by Richard Lim. We are making the official, licensed, reproduction of the jacket.

Thanks!

Katie Payton"

I asked if they had helped to make the original, they didnt. So, for those looking to own original, Lim is still our best bet...

In case some of you were wondering about this, i asked Steady if you can get the jacket without the scorpion and they responded:

"The jackets are not customizable or available without the scorpion. It is a licensed item, and we can only manufacture and sell the approved jacket.
Thanks!
Katie Payton"
