It's being released on the 12th here. I think I can count the times I've seen a movie before the US on one hand. I usually have to wait for weeks on end.

Wow.This Dredd really doesn't pull any of its punches. This is an unbelievably graphic and violent film that leaves the previous comic book adaptation way, way, way behind over a bloody and body strewn field. It is the polar opposite of the Stallone version and one of the few recent releases that really does deserves its 18 rating. Some of the slow mo shots of bodies and heads being taken apart by bullets will leave you gasping. This is NOT for the faint hearted or easily upset. This is a film to watch , try to take in and then go lay down in a very quiet and dark room afterwards. Some of the scenes will just burn themselves into the back of your eyeballs.
Yes, you can tell it had a restrictive budget but its not evident from the production values nor the leads who are first class.Kudos to the actors which carry this sparsely written but well characterized script brilliantly and to the writer Alex Garland for getting a fair bit of gallows humour worked into it to counter point the violence as well.Urban nails this Dredd dead on the chin (ha ha)and Thrilby's Anderson is both an oddly sympathetic yet tough counterpoint to his implacable justice. Roughday Rookie? I should say so.
Because of its budget its a simple story thats brutally effective in its pace and action. I thought it was superb. Next to "Chronicle" and "Avengers" this is my third favorite film I've seen this year and as great an interpretation of a Dredd as I could have wished for.

Wow. That's way more positive than I'd have imagined! I may have to check this one out, actually.

Take my word for it. I forgot to add the 3D delivers some of the most strangely beautiful moments I've ever seen in any film. I'd never have thought such horrifying violence could have been filmed so artistically be it an ordinary bath or a bloody version of one. And talk about a swan dive!

Everything cut thumb said but with more praise! Absolutely fantastic!
The violence and the humour balanced so well. The stoned/flash bang/mind reading shots were amazing and the 3D...
If any movie needs to be seen in 3D it's this!
Aghhhh, I need to go see it again :D

Hilarious, awesome and beautiful in one! A solid 9/10

Awesome film. Usually I find 3D to be meh. This really did use 3D well enough that I would actually want to watch it again in 3D. Urban to me will always be Cupid in Xena; but here he does Dredd fantasticly. Thirlby was also great as Anderson. Well written, well acted and well presented. This will be a film I will buy on Blu-ray rather than DVD and might even be the one that tempts me towards buying a 3D tv.

This movie is absolutely fantastic! Just got home from seeing it and can't praise it enough.

I've never made multiple trips to the cinema for one film but will definitely be seeing this again. Planning on another trip next weekend :D If you're in the UK do yourself a massive favour and go see it now, if you're in the US book your tickets for the 21st now. You will not regret it.

Dead chuffed :)

Seen it, loved it, going to see it again...never done that before. I am a big Dredd fan and this is the Dredd I have wanted to see on screen for ever.

Saw it last night and as a life long Dredd fan this really delivers.
Urban is awesome as Dredd and the uniform really works. Some nice comic references such as the Chopper graffiti and no punches pulled with the violence.
Really hope this is a money maker as part 2 could be even better. 9/10

Oh, cool to hear your positive opinions. Might have to see this one. I was expecting it to be bad. Glad Im wrong!

Wow, I don't think we have ever gotten this far with all of the reviews being one way or the other. I really thought this was going to be a crapfest, and I hate seeing movies in 3D but you guys are convincing me to go see it now!

just perfect! best film I've seen in a very, very long time.
As a lifelong Dredd fan it hit all the right spots and as a movie lover it did the same.

Props and kit were all amazing too, bike looked and sounded great, uniform and helmet, awesome...I'm a VERY happy Dreddite, here's to a sequel and beyond!!

Respect
P.

I have a 3d tv and Dredd will be the first 3d bluray I get.

Saw it on saturday and realy enjoyed it. For me I still did not see the need for the 3D.

My friend Shannon (sstcop) won the "Aint it Cool news" contest to see an advance screening of Dredd tonight. She was able to take a guest so I was lucky to go with her. Best part was Karl Urban was there and introduced the movie. SOOOO COOOL! Movie was REALLY good too.
