Dredd movie (2012) costume parts identification

Lol, after a small debate I have to agree with Bowelrock. Watching that featurette about the armor you can see the artist working on the shoulders which are flexible; they truly look custom made

I'd agree with that. The vest/armour looks very much inspired by motorcycle armour but I don't think it goes farther than that. That said, it doesn't look seriously complicated but just a lot of work, ha!

Looks very similar to a Boker Plus Armed Forces Folder. (Painted green? Or is it the lighting?)

Blade comes as tanto or spearpoint style. Don't recall ever seeing the blade in the film though.

Boker offers Pocket knife Boker Plus Armed Forces Tanto Folder II by Boker Plus as Tactical knife.

You get to see Anderson's blade. It is a Tanto style point. It is actually center screen when the baddie is going through her stuff before he attempts to shot her with the lawgiver. He is looking over her knife before he picks up the gun.

It seems to me that it would be a good idea for someone to make a resin cast of this knife (with the knife closed) so that people could put it on their utility belts and not have problems at conventions. (Not to mention that a resin cast would be lighter and cheaper than the real thing).

I have the exact knife but I don't do much casting anymore. If anyone out there wants to make a resin cast of this, get in touch with me privately and I'll be happy to loan you the knife.

Well done for id-ing the knife. Heres another item to see if we can track down. On the back of Dredd's belt there is a cylindrical holder ( pictured) anyone know what it is ? I've also included something that attaches on the arm, what is this attachment ?

Would anyone happen to have any clear pics of the back of Dredd's unifiorm ? I'm trying to see what pattern the jeans have for the cutouts and also the different colours cutouts on the jacket sleeves.

That's interesting. That's the first that I have seen that cylinder type holster. No clue what it is. I dug through my reference photos and I see it in a few, but of course it is NEVER clear enough to ID.

On similar armor I've seen this tab serves two purposes. 1) It holds the elastic arm band in place, which secures the protective shoulder pad over the top of the arm, and 2) It is used to readjust and pull the shoulder pad back down into place in the event it rides up, as it is much easier to grasp the tab than the pad or elastic band, especially with gloves on.

it would be best to go touch and see bike armor in person and see what it really is made out of. Then you can make the stuff out of foam..which could be the same type of foam used in bike armor. Closed cell foam. I have a few sets of bike gear and the foam is all the same.

I've noticed a folding knife on his belt. Do we have any knife gurus here ?

I´ts indeed a Böker folder as noted before, but if you look closely, it´s a Boker Plus Armed Forces Tanto Folder I in the first picture (smaller size, bigger hinge screw) and a Boker Plus Armed Forces Tanto Folder II in the second picture (bigger size, smaller hinge screw)

I'm seeing things but i was looking at the high definition publicity pics the put out and i believe the knee and elbow pads are green or at least CHARCOAL MARINE anybody know a better match in color then that and a source ?.

Been following this thread, and for the boots it looks like a person will have to procure a base boot and mod up from there. The buckles look like they are off alpinstar or fox motocross boots, and the armor parts look cutom cast.

I been toying around with the idea trying this or similar base boot and doing something. That boot with a nice heavy lugged sole would be better, but jsut started browsing boots.

Don't know if I missed it somewhere, but has anyone found a decent base jacket to use for this? Maybe one that already has ribbing near the elbows?

I went with this jacket - perhaps appropriately named executioner.

It has some ribbing just above the elbow, not much and it doesn't wrap around. The details on the back are interesting, but they are going to get covered up by the vest.
