No, the sample that was almost complete got damaged. So, another is being made.
Plus, I'll be going out of town in a couple of weeks for vacation. So, if it doesn't arrive soon, I probably won't be able to inspect the prototype until the third week of August.

The spear looks great, but the other pieces look a little to clean and sharp, like something made in current times..Maybe it's just me..

I always liked the design of the spear.
Had a chat with Peter Kuran the other day. I was asking about other movies he'd worked on.
He mentioned doing the vfx for the spear in Dragonslayer when the blacksmith is working on it,
heated by the amulet.
Fun stuff.

I took their picture of the prototype and overlaid it on top of the blueprints that I sent them, which clearly showed what needed to be worked on.
So, hopefully they'll fix it on the next sample...

UPDATE:
Here's the new prototype, which is the 7th and final one! I think they pretty much nailed it on this one and will be shipping this to me tomorrow to examine physically!
I've already talked to them about making the blade paint lines more uniform. So, don't worry about that part!
So, what do you guys think?

I would say that it is a definite improvement from the first prototype photos shown, but there is still a few things that are off to me.
Here is a side by side and there a few things that bug me, the corners on the end are too sharp and should be rounded. The cut outs need to be bigger and slightly lower. The overall taper of the blade it too wide and the round base that goes over the pole and up through the blade should be rounded and gently taper as it goes up. The new proto blade seems to have a flat spot and an angle where there was a joint ground flat.
I applaud your attempts to improve this, but if this is indeed the final version I think I'm gonna pass.

I have to agree, those parts are inaccurate. Plus the three prong piece is way too angular, no?
The one in the film has subtle curves to the pieces and not sharp angles.

agreed and it was what I mentioned earlier in the thread.. It looks a little too "Budk" and not like something that was created hundreds of years ago.. It does look very nice, but I was hoping for something more primitive looking.
And I am with Stivie, if this is the final product, I will have to pass as well... :unsure

With your explanation on where you got your ideas for the prototype and looking for some other screen caps I can clearly see where you are coming from now. I just don't think it was stated before.
Here is another side by side from a different part of the movie and it is a much closer match.
