How do most of you guys who have been before get your costume out to Dragon Con? Do you check a bag/box, ship them to yourself?

Me personally I'm 4.5 hours away for I drive...and have bags and boxes...not sure about the ones that fly?...

AAHHHHH the pre-con crazy is definitely beginning to set in for me, and I bet i'm not the only one feeling the time crunch! ;D I can't wait to get to say hello to everyone in person, its going to be very awesome.

I fly from NE Ohio, I have a fairly large piece of luggage that I pack carefully and put into checked baggage with costumes in with some regular clothes ( mostly to cushion pieces because when am I ever not in costume?! JK most of us have times where we just want to relax haha), I wear the biggest boots I'm taking at a particular time (boots but not anything like armor feet/legs of foam/etc costumes since I have to take them off for security screening) instead of packing them to free up more space for other things in the big bag, I also have a good sized carry on that holds the more delicate items and my nikon. Plus your "one personal item" can most certainly be a helm or other type of part of your costume. I may be using this trick myself this year depending on what I finally decide to go with. I personally have not shipped to D*C but I have heard of other people who have shipped large parts to other cons. You will definitely have to ask the hotel if they will accept and hold packages for guests and during what time frame it can arrive. Some hotels I've heard are picky about it.

Yeah I'm feeling it hard core...I have a timeline and agenda of what has to be completed every week...haha...
this was taken last weekend...
Gotten half the stuff I've ordered also, waiting on some more packages...

So, I'm coming from NYC for my second dragoncon. Came last year and had an amazing weekend. Ill be coming to the RPF meet thursday night of dragoncon. I havent built much yet, but I love the group and all the ideas and builds I've seen here. Hoping to meet a few ppl.

by the by if anyone here has/uses instagram I have been posting snippets of what I am working on as con looms closer - feel free to look me up under the same name as I have here ( same with twitter) I just haven't had the time to upload anything on a thread anywhere else, not even here between work and costume work. What's a day off? xD
Yes, I'd like to come. The only complication might be if I'm still doing set-up... I volunteer with one of the vendors and usually help them get unpacked and set up prior to the show.
I am in total countdown mode. And I should probably be chained to my sewing machine for the next few weeks.
Going to DragonCon is going "home" for me, so I get to ship stuff home to the family if needed. Gives me a chance to meet up with them and get my stuff at the same time. =D When we were travelling around the world earlier this year, though, we had stuff shipped to our hotel in NY and things worked out well. I'd say contact the hotel and confirm the info you'll need to include for proper delivery -- name, reservation number, etc., and they can add a note to your record, too.

Hey everyone. Really glad I found this thread.
I'll be attending and looking forward to meeting folks from the RPF at a meet up. Has the venue been chosen, made official? The Vortex would be a cool spot too.
I live in Atlanta, not far from down down. Is anyone still looking for a place to crash? If so let me know. I really can only accommodate 1 maybe two people. I have an apartment and a gaggle of folks would be too much for my place.
