DragonCon 2013

boy do i wish i could go to D.C.

someday.

but with the flight, the room and everything, i just cant afford it :$
oh well, im gonna be rich one day and buy the whole thing :D

If I can get a 'transferred' room by the middle of the year, I'll be there all four days as Link, Dr. Horrible, a Ghostbuster, and possibly Vash the Stampede.
Last year's D*Con was arguably the most fun I had all year, and I plan on going from now on!

It's been in the works for a long time now. My childhood heroes are Indy, Han, and Guybrush. I'll be starting a build thread for it once I get to the actual sewing, but so far I'm very, very happy with how it's looking.

I can happily say that I have my tickets/room booked, time off, and I am working hot and heavy on 2 big creations for Dragon Con this year.

I think this Dcon will be even more fun than last year (which was an absolute blast)

i will be there with rockband and others......

in the following costumes..
1. haldir's elven archer
2.popeye
3. 1705 fop.....
4......undecided maybe nazi red skull.....

Been going since 2008. I don't forsee myself ever missing one. My costumes are going to be based on comfort and low cost this year (going back to get my master's, no job, woo!)

To the person asking about single day passes, they do offer it. Here's a link to the prices from 2012:

Be aware you can only buy that day's badge on that day. For example, you can't buy a Saturday only badge on Friday. And a new rule implemented this year, all badges are non refundable and non transferable!

OK, so apart from somebody looking to transfer their room in one of the main host hotels, what are the other options for rooms? I just bought my badge, so next I need to lock down the room. Will more rooms open up later, and if so when do they do it? Are there other hotels that still have rooms available?

My wife and I will be there. Missed last year, first one we missed since 2008, and greatly regretted it.

This might be our last year though, too much of an expense every year, and our priorities have shifted.

i know the marriott is not doing room transfers anymore.
Correct. You have to pay for one day (non-refundable) upfront, and you cannot transfer the room. You also have to be in person with ID to claim your room.

Another [small] reason why this might be our last year.

I can tell you Hilton isn't either (I have a room there), and I want to say Hyatt too. I imagine the hotel/staff got wind folks were trying to sell rooms on Craigslist for ridiculous prices so they laid down the no deposit refund and no transfer rule.

There are still some non-host hotels with rooms. Visit the website and check the list. You can also join the Facebook "Dragoncon Rooms" group and ask for a transfer or roommate situation; the first few times I went to this con I used this community and met some great folks.

I'm on the group, and I posted, but that comm is just 1,000 looking for rooms and nobody giving any up. It's like a bunch of sweaty dudes at an anime con trying to grope the only woman there.

I managed to get one at the Holiday Inn. Not ideal, 3.3 miles away, but it's a room. There was no deposit, so if a better room becomes available I can always switch. Thanks for the tip.
