Doctor Who opinions

If it's part of the character and you never reference it, why bother? It's like having Bill be gay, but never be attracted to other women. What's the point of having her be ostensibly gay then? They specifically made Yaz a cop. If she's not going to act like a cop, if being a cop never impacts her character at all, then why make her a cop? It's just bad writing!

My point wasn't the issue with the writing of her character, which is of course not of a high calibre. It was the linking of that poor character writing, to genuine real world issues of the police forces here in the UK, which i found to be wide of the mark. Especially when it's not possible for a succint and informative reply on the real world issues to be had here, due to the rules on political posts (which i wholly understand and agree with).

We are both agreed, it seems, that her character isn't reaping the benefits of good writing in the slightest.

What I thought was silly about the episode, was the aliens were built up to be a threatening menace and I even told the doctor that they would step over their dead corpses if they got in their way. Then suddenly in the last few minutes of the episode, all of a sudden they’re nice friendly helpful aliens! Doctor has no problem with Them now and let’s them go honor the dead guy. It’s just sloppy writing.

I mean, isn’t that basically what the glass aliens in the Christmas special were doing? Coming in at the moment of a person is death, and making a glass replica copy of them?

I fear that Doctor Who is now for a generation that I am not a part of! I will always have my classics, I will always have Tom Baker and Matt smith to watch.

They tried, sometimes a bit too hard. to make this new season different. The shows have a different feel about them and I think with one exception all the episodes have been filmed on location somewhere.

I like the new season but I find myself watching older shows instead of rewatching current ones.

Still not sure If I like this new doctor who. Somthing Is missing

My wife says they picked the wrong showrunner. But now that it's becoming known how much meddling the BBC is engaged in when it comes to Doctor Who, I mean Jodie wasn't the first choice for the Doctor, the BBC overrode the original choice because they wanted a woman. Chibnall is just the BBC's yes man.

Who was the original choice?

I dunno what's missing, mainly because it's looking that S11 is gonna be my favorite series overall over S1 and S9. Is it because I'm a younger fan?

First I've heard of it. Do you have a link? Agree with your wife about Chibnall.

I have to say that compared to Doctor Clara for 3 years (It PAINS me to watch most of those episodes) this new show runner has done excellent. I think Jodie is good in the role but the episodes could use some work. They are pretty dark and relying too much on politics through the ages. Also need to see more Tardis. It could use improvement but I am still a fan through good or bad. If I can survive 80's Who I can survive anything LOL

The grandma had to recognize her granddaughter at the end right ?

The whole you want to know about the watch now ?

I don't think she would have asked if she didn't already know she would not have to tell the story .

( Double Points for triple negative )

I think it is along the same lines as how Marty McFly grew up to look exactly like Calvin Klein. A similarity like that would not be preceived because of the context- you would never expect someone from your early past to be standing right in front of you, especially as one of your offspring's children.

If someone came up to you today that looked like someone you last saw 50 years ago - for maybe 24 hours total (provided you were at least 50 years old) - odds are it wouldn't even register to you one iota.

Even if you did, you don't jump to time travel. You think may it's her granddaughter or something.

I jump to time travel on everything. Hell I have answered this post 17 times already.

Even if the faces get a little blury I think she would remember the strange clothes she must have thought they were wearing.

I haven't loved this series but I thought Kerblam! was decent enough. Someone should make patches or stickers to go on the back of hi-vis jackets with the logo on them. And the boxes too.

Liked the last episode and thought it was very relevant. We may love our robotic devices but I think deep down a lot of people still don't trust them. The only thing I didn't like was what happened to the girl.

I enjoyed it- a few call outs to the past and an unexpected reveal of the true villain.
My only negative was when the Doctor redirected the delivery-bots I feel there should at least been some sort of flicker as they transmatted out and returned.

Latest episode touching on people being robophobic, God help me
I took that as a joke, considering minutes later she obliterated thousands of them with no hesitation at all.

Loved the Demons of the Punjab episode. All the more powerful for being aired on rememberance Sunday.
I think the Gran was well aware of Yaz, with the favourite grand daughter comment and giving her the watch, also the jibe at the poor henna decorations, just as she had when her mother had done them.

I read today that this season's bad guys are deliberately weak because they are not the true evil to overcome- the real issue is caused by human nature.
