Re: Doctor Who Machined Classic Sonic Pertwee/Baker/Davison Kit
Hey, there's no need to start getting overly protective. I just asked if you could try and come up with some numbers rather than pointing me to a massive array of screencaps, most of which I've already used. While I do want to produce an accurate replica, I want to to that myself without recasting another member, such as Russrep. Even if I were to use his dims, I can't confirm this, since I don't own one, but I don't think Russ' halo matches mine, thus that comparison is rendered defunct and it would be completely useless to me if I tried to copy his design. Due to the contours of the bullet, it is arguably one of the most difficult pieces to measure and reproduce accurately, which is why I asked you if you could produce some counter-measurements that you would be willing to share with me so that I could try and improve the piece that will be manufactured. However, if that is not your intent, I will respect that decision and stick with my own research. I've never claimed that I was an expert, but I have done research by scaling, measuring, and closely inspecting screencaps. Those dimensions are present in both my render and in my model. Either way, Considering that this exchange has lasted an excessively long time, I'm willing to shift it over to Private Messaging so that we can figure things out while leaving those who are subscribed to the thread undisturbed. Capiche?
I fixed the links.
What I mean, is that when I compare the pictures you have provided with the screen caps it looks (To my eyes) like the diameter of the emitter is about 1-2 millimeters too small. I The reason I think it's too small is from what I can see in the build pictures your emitter straightens out (Like a bullet) while I believe that the emitter on prop has a very small area in which it straightens out sort of like a dome.
I've said this many times before, this is just what I see. I'm no expert on the subject and if I've come across as someone who is trying to be just that, than I apologize. If you don't see it that's totally fine. Just stating my thoughts. Also, keep in mind i'm basing my idea of your build from the pictures you posted so I might be seeing the emitter differently from a more direct shot.
Edit: Link for illustration (Ik it's a replica) http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=111286
In the third picture the emitter looks much smaller than the magnet, but when you get a more direct picture like in the second one you can see that when the emitter is not obscured by the halo the diameter reaches to pretty much (If not exactly) that of the magnet.
