Doc's foam/fiberglass work + Mark 42 painted pieces

Re: Doc's foam Ironman, warmachine and Mark 6 leg mobility example vid

Finally after so many failures I got a functional inner thigh piece that is as close as I could get it to the real thing. I just need to widen it alittle but its attached with velcro so it can be removed. I couldnt stand the huge gap there and now it looks awesome. The customers gnna flip:D I hope this vid isnt upside down too:lol Enjoy:cool

Re: Doc's foam Ironman, warmachine and finally funtional inner leg armor piece

Have you tried wearing this with the insert? I did something very similar with mine. When I was holding the leg (such as you are) and bending it, it worked great. But, once I had the leg on and tried walking around, I found that the "fingers" on the sides of the insert kept catching on the edges of the jointed area, causing them to find themselves OUTSIDE of the hole. If you don't have this problem, I would LOVE to see your build technique. Having a metallic red undersuit helps tremendously in blending everything in, but I would still love to have functional inserts behind the legs.

Re: Doc's foam Ironman, warmachine and finally funtional inner leg armor piece

hi Doc,

i am new to the RPF, and building in general and this thread captured my time for 2 days now. :eek

Awesome work, dear sir. :thumbsup

I was to push my first try in building Warmachine off until later this year, but after reading all of this i am like "ah frak it, i am off bying foam NOW"

This said, i am off bying foam... :lol

You, are an inspiration (alongside Stealth and XRobot, both of their youtube channels got me into this hobby. ^_^ )

p.s. the problem with your videos playing upside down for some ppl is because of it being an .mov ... when you play it with the vlc player or others it plays flipped. Playing it in Quicktime shows it right side up and in all its shiny glory. :love

Yea with lots of my other failures I would have that same problem, Red undersuit does help blend in but thats what I didn't want for my builds so I was doing tons of research to get that to work. But now got the kinks out and you wanted to see me in it so ask and so you shall recieve:lol

Great Job Doc. as always, keep it up dude! :D :popcorn:popcorn:popcorn

Thanks cale:)

Re: Doc's foam Builds + functional inner leg armor with vid showing articulation

I'm impressed, Doc. Any chance of you sharing your technique? I would love to get the proper filler pieces back there.

Re: Doc's foam Builds + functional inner leg armor with vid showing articulation

Hey Doc that looks great. Seems like a little different approach to compression articulation. It looks like you have them connected in the center instead of the sides. It definitely gets the job done.

Re: Doc's foam Builds + functional inner leg armor with vid showing articulation

How did you join the 'behind the knee' pieces together?

Thanks and Good eyes dude:) yup attached from the center. In my other attempts from the side were ok for more rounded but I wanted it more accurate with angles so from center worked better.

How did you join the 'behind the knee' pieces together?

Strong elastic

Re: Doc's foam Ironman, warmachine and Mark 6 leg mobility example vid

I think it didn't exist until the last edition... go to the tamasoft site and update your Pep Designer program.
Thanks Darkside. I just updated my pep designer and i now have the option. And thank u too doc. I think this method will prove to be the most valuable asset once i get the hang of it... Im still a bit confused about how to do it properly
