hey doc! i know you're not using the rondo method anymore as i read before here, but i had a question. . .does the rondo method makes the foam hold it's shape? i'm planning to rondo my foam helmets and i was wondering about the strength and hold capability of it. .i tried fiberglassing the inside and it works for me. .i just want to try the rondo method of a change

Yea I dont use it but it holds the shape very well and will fell just like fiberglass and it sel levels which I liked alot. Its awesome but I dont use it cuz its smell is really strong and toxic so be careful.

Re: Doc's foam Ironman, warmachine and other cool info + IronPatriot helmet

I just wanted to show an example of the leg mobility. I noticed with the shin to thigh joint would somtimes make make foam crease or expand when bending after all it is foam and it can only handle so much pressure when you bend at the knee so thats why it'll fold or expand. Since I've been trying to stay away from harsh chemicals I didnt want to use polyester resin, epoxy or rondo to reinforce the swivel joint.I figured out an easy way without those chemicals as you can see in vid that the foam dont move at all. After my sealing process it does end up pretty rigid but In the vid I just coated it with 1 coat of elmers so it should be flimsy still but yet does not crease. If ya guys interested I can go into detail . So let me know and hope ya enjoy vid.

thanks for the "prescription" doc! :lol i'll let you know if i do it correctly :D

nice mark 6 legs you got there

Thanks for the Vid doc! You have just about convinced me to trust Thinner foam. You mentioned you use 3mm? I have plenty of 2mm, Would this make a massive difference? Does the extra 1mm give that much extra strength? Also your video played upside down for me. :D

Cool and just try it on a test piece so ya can see how it works. Good luck dude and thanks:)

For big pieces like legs, cod chest and back I use 5mm and the rest I use 3mm. I rarely use 2mm just for raised detail pieces. Hmmm it plays normal for me so dont know what to do bout that:lol

Nice mobility

Thanks. Yea it does the customer Im doing it for will be able to run if he wants in it. I see alot of cool builds but when it comes to mobilty they look akward like they cant walk normal but in my suits I want them to be able to walk and move like they would without wearing the suit. When I'm done with mine you'll be able to tell which Ironman I am by my pimp walk:lol:D

Re: Doc's foam Ironman, warmachine and Mark 6 leg mobility example vid

Yup, cool vid... it also played upside down for me but I figured a second crack about you walking on the ceiling would be old. lol

Re: Doc's foam Ironman, warmachine and Mark 6 leg mobility example vid

As long as you're also toting a pimp cane and giant, fluffy, purple pimp hat on top of your helmet, all will be right with the world :p

Re: Doc's foam Ironman, warmachine and Mark 6 leg mobility example vid

Hey doc, with the scaling could i just scale each piece up 10%?? I assume that all the pieces were made for a specific fit before upload. I scaled the helmet up 10% and it fits like a glove.... Do u think the same would work for all of Dancin'Fools files??

I wouldnt, what I suggest is measure the biggest section of the suit which is your chest. Like from armpit to armpit then convert the inches to mm. Open the chest file with pep designer and use the measure distance tool to measure same area where you measured on yourself. Dont forget to add the thicknesd of the foam too. Then add or subtract to you get as close to your chest measurements. Add 1 inch or 2 so ya can have room for abs to be underneath. Then look at the scale thats what you should use for rest of suit. By trying to keep everything at same scale the porportions of the suit will look right. Lots of people scale each piece different and then thats where the suit will look not right like oversized chest or somthing. I just make adjustments when built. Trust me your suit will look better:)

I might be a lil slow this mornin, but for some reason i cant find the measure distance tool.. And also doc i did the neckseal yesterday, i scaled it up 10% percent just like the helmet and that too fits perfectly. Would u mind if i upload a photo or 2 to show the results??

Sure go ahead. To use the measure tool you right like on the 2-D side then a menu will pop up and its the last option on menu. That tool will be your best friend for building so get real familiar with it.

Its hot as hell in that thing. Im workin on the torso now... And i STILL cant find the distance measure tool. I think my pep designer is special. lol

I think it didn't exist until the last edition... go to the tamasoft site and update your Pep Designer program.
