Limited Run DL44 TFA Blaster Kit

Yeah, like I said, I don't mind sacrificing the mag for stability. I will probably take it out shooting a time or two before the conversion, Just cuz. :p

I'll be looking forward to those tutorials as well. This will be my first ever DL-44 build and I just can't wait to put it together.

Any thoughts to the final color of the blaster? In the movie it doesn't look like the usual black from ANH... The HFC gun is gunmetal grey and I was wondering if I should keep it that color, or try a different one...

You're right, it's more grey than black. If you take a look at the 3D model in Star Wars Battlefront (the latest), you can see it's grey too. I'm going to have my kit painted in the very same color (car paint workshop). I wanna get a uniform finish, I'm not friend of age it because I don't have the skills or the patience :)

I just put up a few more kits for the second last chance orders!
Sale officially closes tomorrow!!!

Take a look at post #450 - Dreamcrazy started a tutorial for attaching the mount. He says it maintains the shoot-ability ad is still strong as we described earlier.

I asked him to post it here as well...

Before coming here, I checked the site and saw some available.... and snagged one. Thanks for putting up some more. :)

I got the ANH DL44 set from Dark Energy before seeing the TFA prop. So I will just try to make the best of this set and my HFC mauser. Sorry if i'm hijacking this thread - perhaps it's more of an exploring the TFA blaster, than working with the HFC gun thread. I would just like to share how I attached the scope, without killing the inner gun mechanism.

1. Dismaltle the gun totally and remove all of the inner stuff
2. Drill the two holes for the scope bar
3. Use a thread cutter in the holes. The metal is 2mm thick, so there is enough to turn the screws about 3 times.

4. In the hole in the back of the gun you can turn the screw 1/2 mm into the gun, but not anymore. The magazine well has no room at all, so do not turn the screw into the inner.

5. Put epoxy on the screws and turn them into place. Put epoxy on the back of the two caps and the lower part of the screws. This glues the caps to the gun and the screws for extra strenght.

If you use the ANH kit from Dark Energy, the front cap needs to be filed, so the scope bar can run paralell to the gun. This is because the mag well on this gun is wider and has an angle compared to the denix. I just used a file and some patience.

It has cured for 30 hours now, and it seems to be very, very strong, and it does not disturb the inner gun mechanism at all. So I think this might Work. It was strong even without the epoxy. I wanted to avoid silver welding, because my chance of getting it right would be 0%. I have no experience working with epoxy or metal - so any comments would be nice. If it breaks off i'll let you know:) Im considering if i should insert another screw in the middle, just for extra support - there are three caps on the scope bar, so this should be doable.

Edit: I should mention that I wasnt able to get a hold of the 1/4-20 thread cutter that the assembly guidelines from Dark Energy Creations advised, so I used an "M6" cutter. This does not have a perfect fit for the supplied screws, helping them to Lock into the hole - but making alignment a bit tricky.

Edit: The HFC gun is a bit "oily". Clean the screws, caps and gun carefully. I used isopropyl alcohol, and I also sanded the gun and caps where the epoxy where to stick.

It's a nice work. Epoxy solid like putty or liquid as bicomponent? Do yo plan to cut the screws or not necessary?

Will there be a future run for the kit? I just found this thread yesterday, rearranged my funds, bought the HFC mauser, and went to buy the kit and sadly both were sold out. I'm an incredibly bummed geek, and holding on to some hope.

I have cut the screws after making the tutorial - they are indeed to long. I used a two component slow curing epoxy (this one: http://www.harald-nyborg.dk/p2358/danalim-epoxy-universal-24ml). Its thick and sticky and a pain to work with. But its extremely strong - together with the few threads the screws can turn into, it seems more than strong enough to hold the scope in place.

I thought so, too much horn :D
OK, now it's clear, thanks a lot. I'm gathering the "building toolkit" and it's nice to know the working things... So, putty for the bullbarrel, and resin for the screws :thumbsup

They also make a 5 minute version. Very strong as well, just sets faster for quicker grip. Full cure takes a few hours.

I'm undecided if I want to keep it functional. I really don't like the rod that sticks out if the bolt and holds the hammer back. Anyone know if the rod can be shortened and still be able to fire BBs?

I'll probably cut it down anyway. I don't really need it to fire. The working hammer/trigger is good enough.

Argh, I signed up for the mailing list at DEC and just got an email today, but everything's sold out. Should have watched the runs forum more closely. If you have a waitlist for ANH kits, please put me on it!

>By Grabthars' hammer,I can't believe that I actually got in on the initial ANH run.I'm usually the last to know anything..:wacko
Email in my inbox today..production has started and excitment is climbing towards 11.
