Limited Run DL44 TFA Blaster Kit

Congrats Sprocket! This is my first DL-44 build and I ended up here at the RPF. Luckily I got my hands on ANH DEC kit from Australia (the couldn't get the base gun because of their laws). It arrived yesterday and the kit is amazing! I'm thinking of ordering a 2nd. I have the DEC Droid Caller, that was my first build ever.

Anyone know how much you'll have to cut the HFC barrel down to fit the bull barrel?

Didn't realize there had been updates as I hadn't been receiving them. Got in under the wire. :D

I'd like to know as well, I was just gonna eyeball it to poster photos. Sure hope my Dremel can get through it.

If you wait for the kit...which is probably the best idea.. you can simply dry fit the bull barrel and FH to the correct positions and mark the barrel at the beginning of the CONE section.
Cutting the Mauser barrel even with the booster area, you will be able to use the set screws to secure the FH to the Mauser barrel.

A Dremel with a cut off wheel will make quick clean work of it. You can use a drum sander bit to smooth and even up the end.

Dumb questions, but is the bull barrel and flash hider secured with one screw or two screws? Im asking because there is a hole on the top of the FH and the bottom (obviously the bull barrel has one hole on the bottom)

looks like 2 screws in the bb to hold to the mauser barrel. 2 set screws in the fh to hold the fh on. Can't really see to top set screw but it is a reasonable guess. ; )

Hey guys,

So I am pretty new to prop collecting and have yet to gain the skills to do these things myself thus was wondering if a experienced builder here would commission one of these bad boys for me?

Please let me know so that I may place the order or dark creations website.

Thanks.

and would you guys say that the denix 1986 replica he has on his site would be the best base to work with or would the air soft version be best?

Hey Rudy. Aside from someone building it for you...
It really depends on what you are after. In reality, the ANH and TFA versions are supposed to be the same blaster. Solo's blaster was supposed to be a specialy modified DL44 so this scope and mount and FH system is unique. Seems the TFA guys used an Airsoft because it is readily available.

The Denix mod version DEC offers has the left side details already. Just need to add the new Mystery plug.
So it really depends on if you are looking for a dead on screen accurate copy or just a great blaster.
Both will make great replicas.

Just preordered mine! And not a minute too soon. Will you be making a video tutorial for the TFA kit?

I would love to sign up for one of these kits. But, I really would need to see some pictures of the 3d models before I could commit. I hope that you guys can post some pictures of the 3d models before the sign-up period is over.

I will make a short video on how to cut the barrel and glue on the mount studs.

Here are a couple of solid models for the TFA version

Ufffh, the only difference in the "new" replica is the Denix logo vanished... The "futuristic" version is awwwful, ha ha. Looks like an amateur ANH ******* blaster, let's see how much the want to take for that...

I'm spanish too, but I got nothing good to say about their Mauser. In fact, I've taken the HFC and the TFA kit because it's a much better replica.

The old denix models had such nice crisp detail and action. It's too bad they had to cut down on detail to save money.

Has anyone seen this? Denix is apparently making a new C96 replica and their own ANH kit or something? A more accurate C96 would be AWESOME but I dunno about those blaster parts ...

More, more and bigger solid models! :D

Very true. I hate how the best quality Mauser replicas we can get are over 40 years old and will break if we try to operate the action. I wish someone would make a new Mauser replica with the same quality as an MGC. Wasn't HFC making a new model of mauser?
