DL-44 ESB Blaster Discussion - Greeblies POST 208

When I look at it now, it kinda looks like that could be a bump on the knob itself. Know what I mean? Like a pointer or whatever, just rounded rather than pointy.

I see what u mean. I was playing with the idea of adding a hinge on the knob for the same reason but figured that would be to much of an interpretation??

Yea, thanks for discussing anyways, since we have no real proof yet!

This is actually a Boba Debt kit. I cut the disc by hand, (I know... best circle I've ever made without a circular hole saw or lathe) and another member cut a piece of brass for me. I made my own silver spacer section too

Apologies for my first post on the forum randomly bringing this thread back up to first page. I just wanted to say, as a newcomer, how incredible these threads are to someone new to prop building. After making a DL44 from a £5 plastic Mauser and some resin parts I got on eBay, I've just picked up an accurized Denix with Field Marshall Scope and everything else to build the Bespin Han blaster from War Machine. This thread totally baked my head at first but along with a couple of other threads made everything much clearer about what I had and what I needed to do to finish it. And it's also made me realise how much I now want to build a Hoth version.

It must be. Looks like a different angle from the same session as some very similar photos which have been floating around for many years. I'd love to see an uncropped version to view more of the saber.

Yes, those look correct. I hadn't realized how much that bolt was sticking out of the knurled knob
and the large amount rust on the Mauser. It's definitely weathered much more than the Han version of the blaster.
Thanks for posting the pics! :)

As I mentioned.. truly subjective. The picture is far from clear and it’s a guessing game until we get something definitive. From what I see this is what I get. I also designed up a mystery knob without the groves but I think the groves do seem appropriate..View attachment 1013223

I need to get a new 4k player. Mine will not do frame by frame ! But I just picked up the physical disks of Star Wars on 4k. I like watching via streaming, but the clarity & detail that can seen & heard in the physical disks is just incredible. When it comes to this blaster, you can absolutely see the "mystery knob"! & I think chubsANDdoggers nailed it!
I need a different player, so I can move forward frame-by-frame, because the shot that shows it clearly is literally on screen for a frame.
Also, you can read clearly everything that's on the bottom of Luke's lightsaber in the ice cave!

When you're able to share I'd love to see it! Especially if the screws aren't visible. Means someone painted it after it broke off.

Speaking of the new released 4K set. Is there anything new as far as special features go?

If I were to post anything, it'd be a photo of my TV's screen. On top of needing a new player, I would need a way to do a screen grab as well.

I'm still going through everything. But, so far, no.

I know we have no new shots of the mystery disc, and we've discussed it at length, but lately I've been revisiting old discussions and decided to give this a second look.

If you overlay an obnoxious rectangle on the bracket profile, it lets you see the height and placement of things a bit better.

The mystery knob is not very tall. Also, it does not seem to be smaller and "in between the screws"

Also, I THINK I see a shallow top hat, almost like the screws are poking out of notches in the knob, just like the notches in the pistons on the other side. The top hat brim is not wide enough for the screw heads, basically.

So, folks, while a lot of us are stuck at home....I'd like some opinions.. in this shot from the movie it looks like there is an extra layer under the bracket, just like mortifactor said

However it's been looking like that's just discoloration to me, in other shots

Considering the visible 7 screws, I can't see how it would be 2 pieces, but I wanted to breech the topic again... because I like to start trouble sometimes :D

I hope this thread isn't dying - posted by chubsANDdoggers this shows the Hoth blaster with a grey spacer and a distinct mark on the front of it

Looks different than this

but I can see that double mark on this photo

judging by the weathering on the pistons this is the same blaster in the same scene?
