DK's Star Wars Props and Blaster Builds

UPDATE ON MY PROJECTS: PONDA BOBA BLASTER - VIBRO AXE - ROTJ ENDOR A280 - DLT20A IG88 RIFLE

Ponda Boba Blaster - I received my grip from Markus (Odiwan72) and cut it and tapped into it to attach a 1/4 all thread. I then twisted the handle into the Charter Arms AR-7. Modified my Weaver 29s scope and found a bell similar to the screen used. Not 100% but still keeping my eyes peeled for the actual bell scope (If anyone has any info on the make of the scope I would appreciate it) I then cut a piece of flat stock metal for the scope mount and found a 3/4" scope ring. I used the actual barrel from the Charter Arms, filled the long rifle emblem with JB Weld, sanded and painted aluminum chrome finish. I ended up finding another real Mortar Fin and weathered it. It's getting there.

Vibro Axe - I received my aluminum Vibro Axe blade from Ryan so I can start upgrading the Vibro I received from Kurtyboy a few months ago to an all metal option. Absolutely amazing quality Ryan. Big thumbs up! I have most of the work completed. I just need to drill and tap the holes for the final item to attach.

Endor A280 - I am using a Denix M16 as the base for this project. I cut off the plastic barrel shroud from the original Denix to expose the metal barrel underneath. Sleaved over the larger barrel and attached it with screws. I then cut a smaller barrel out of metal and notched it to fit. Tapped into the main barrel and the receiver. I had a local machinist make me the scope shroud, jackel, extra mag, pump grip, sight and rear stock pieces. I then lathed a the barrel extension piece. I am not fond of the way the screen accurate prop was put together so I modified with JB Weld to give the appearance of what a real gun would look like. (See pictures and let me know what you think) I still need to add a few greeblies (Waiting for my all metal parts to arrive) and prep for the final paint and weathering.

DLT20A - I really want to make an all metal version of this blaster and have been giving some thought as to how to make it happen. I am using a Denix STG for the base. I am just in the testing phase to see how to best do this. If anyone has any suggestions let me know. I will keep you posted.

Your Ponda Baba blaster has me obsessed, I was fine until I saw yours... ;). Nice work, can’t wait to see your Hoth rifle!

It has been awhile since I have posted but I have been slowly working on a few projects as I have had time. Just not enough time to post my updates. Here goes.

1. EE3 ROTJ Fett Blaster (Courtesy of Chris Field Marshal Kit) with a real ASI 4x20 scope. Almost Finished. I have the greeblies to add to the stock but looking into the cost of all metal before installing my resin ones. Would anybody else be interested in upgrading your resin or plastic greeblies to aluminum? I may get a better price if we had a bulk order.

5. EE3 ESB Fett Blaster. (Courtesy of Chris Field Marshal Kit) and Roman Props Flash and with a real ASI 4x20 scope. I know it is mounted backwards. I have just opted to not change it yet. Silly Me.

6. Hoth A-280 Rifle (Almost Complete) This has been my favorite project to work on. A BIG thanks to James (Ecojedi) for funding this run of all metal shrouds and pump grips. I really like the feel of this all metal blaster. I used a Denix STG, Field Marshall scope, and added the metal butt stock and greeblie parts. Then I sand blasted, painted weathered and added a clear coat to give it a combat used appearance. I just need to finish up by machining a rear scope / power cylinder and add the shoulder strap.

Man that Hoth rifle! I think I may have seen that metal shroud/foregrip on Facebook...? Too rich for my blood I'm afraid. Gorgeous!

I'm scrounging reference for the side plates (the hinge looking things), seems to be hard to get a read because the resin casts are all so beaten up. How do you feel about the accuracy of what you came up with? Very similar to what I see, but I'm unsure about that raised bit behind the triangular tip, I just can't tell what is supposed to be there.

Thanks Peter. You are right. These props are beat up. They look to me like melted plastic but they sure did there job on screen with all of the special effects. I love this blaster. Here are some reference photos that I used and perhaps they can help you out with finishing yours.

I am really happy with the accuracy of the scope and pump grip.

I have finished adding my D-Rings and ended up cutting the antenna off of mine and removing the additional front barrel tip. It is just pressure fitted on my denix so no cutting was required. Will update photos later. I still need to machine and attach the power cylinder / 2nd scope and fix your printed lenses to my single point scope. I also noticed one last button type greeblie on the back end of the receiver and I should be wrapped up and ready to move on to my next project. Let me now if you have any other questions.

Oh man wonderful! You have a few photos I hadn't found, thank you for sharing! And I had forgotten I sent you some lenses. LMK if they work out or not! I don't think I have any additional reference to add, other than a few pics of the IG-88 blaster which is very similar.

Hoth A280 getting closer. Added D Rings. Should have the rear scope / power cylinder back from the machine shop next week. Also, Finally got around to finishing the Jawa kit offered by Chris.

I received my Zuckuss blaster yesterday. Seth has some serious prop building skills. Thanks man!

Dude, you are a MACHINE!!!...look at the pace, that you are coming up with new builds o_O
Love your progress and new additions to the prop family

The Zuckuss blaster in on my want list as well, how did Seth do the mounts? Still tweaking my design-ideas...

Making really good progress on my DLT20a

The front barrel assembly is pressure fitted to the stg44 denix. If you remove the top screw both barrels will detach from the main receiver with some persuasion from a rubber mallet. No cutting necessary, yet.

I then can detach the top barrel that will be reinserted and attached with the original screw. I needed to make a new offset adapter as the center point of the bottom barrel hole would not be center of the heat shield in its current position. The offset threads into the longer inner barrel which has od threads for attaching the barrel tip and locking the entire barrel assembly to the receiver.

Aluminum CNC stock greeblies coming along as well.

Thanks Drew, I’m glad your happy.
Marcus I start with two pairs of 3/4” x 1/2” x 5 1/2” aluminum bars and clamp two together side by side and drill a half inch hole on one side on the mill and a hole as tight as can be for the barrel on the other side. Then shape them and put bolts through it. It starts like this.
