Disney wants more 'Star Wars' in its theme parks

There's nothing in the ADA about having to provide benches. It's clearances and accessibility (can you get there, are the handrails in the right spot/size, is the door big enough, the stall big enough, etc).

I’ve just been to Disneyland Paris and it really is a shame seeing the Star Wars IP creeping in on top of the beautiful and unique Jules Verne/HG Wells theming in Discoveryland. I know the park has a rocky history, but that setting and style could be so much more.

Side note, Hyperspace Mountain (the slapdash paste over that it is) gave me more tears in my eyes Star Wars feelings than Smugglers Run.

Even in French (which I do not speak) it was great. The rolls while the blaster bolts ignited around you were super thrilling, and it all had me imagining what a ride like this could have been like if built from the ground up. I’m thinking large scale TIEs and a huge section of Star Destroyer overhead.

I haven’t been back to Anaheim since that overlay became permanent but I would like to experience that one too in case it goes away now that GE is open.

For those interested, the second ride in Galaxy's Edge, Rise of the Resistance, is scheduled to open in December at Disneyworld and in January at Disneyland. I don't recall the exact dates, just the months.

From what I've seen, this looks to be a very ambitious ride and it's said that the whole experience will be 15 minutes long. It's going to have at least 2 different ride vehicles and a walkthrough section ala the Haunted Mansion.

AFAIK the two ride vehicles encompasses one moving preshow “ship” and the main vehicle for the ride, so very much like the Haunted Mansion with the elevator+omnimover

I was at the Orlando Galaxy's Edge on Saturday. Got there at 9 AM and before the ride opened there was an 80 minute line for Smuggler's Run. If you didn't have a reservation you weren't getting into Oga's Cantina (luckily I planned ahead). There was a lot of people there all day long. Not too many. I wasn't bumping into people. But it appeared to be extremely popular.

I was at Islands of Adventure today and while exploring Camp Jurassic I realized that it was very similar to what I feel is missing from Galaxys Edge. The nature and adventure that comes through the exploration of it just isn’t there when it comes to Batuu and I think the whole land suffers for it.

For as much trouble as they’ve gone through to make this whole thing they’ve really missed out on the FEELING of the Force and how it affects the world around it. An exploration area like Tom Sawyers island or the wilderness trail from DCA with interactive “Force touch points” that make effects in the area trigger would be incredible. Make it so there was an ancient temple ruin among the spires of the outpost, where the first people of Batuu lived. Imagine exploring dark caves with the light of your saber to guide you, and when you reach a touch point it illuminates a whole bank of Kyber crystals in the cave wall, that’s the kind of immersion I truly want.

it would also serve as an experience not behind a paywall or tied to a phone app, just classic Disney Magic in a world we know and love. I personally don’t think their hush hush practices about the Force work well thematically, and really it just feels like their attempt to replicate the “muggle” situation from the Wizarding World but I don’t buy it. I want more Force in my Star Wars!

Sorry for the rant but I just needed to get it out there

I rode ROTR yesterday, and while I could write at length about how much I dislike the reservation process I thought the ride was pretty good. It’s really nothing explicitly “new” but it takes the pieces of great rides and puts them into an ambitious package, if it achieves the emotion or thrill though is up for interpretation.

I think overall there is too much projection that ends up looking a little flimsy, and can’t help but imagine this was envisioned as 3D at one point

I will say that the queue itself and the experience leading up to the actual ride is great.

Like the parks did with their "immersive experience" the hotel will be cutting corners and making the rooms more like just dressed up hotel rooms.
Big changes from the original concept art.

No large vista windows, now something like a small monitor for a window, regular doors, etc.
Most likely no exotic aliens either since union workers would be involved.

Pretty much just a themed hotel like they already have for other movies.

I was at Anaheim Galaxy's Edge last week. I definitely wanted it to be bigger, but I spent a lot of time taking pictures of every minute detail - and there's LOTS of detail.

Rise of the Resistance is the showpiece, of course, and we got some useful advice about getting in.
As you probably know, you need to register through the Disney app at 8:00 am on the day you want to go and your entire party needs to be on Disneyland grounds. There will be hundreds of people trying to register at the same time and all the spots get filled in less than a minute.
- do NOT use Disney WiFi. Use your cellular. WiFi will get choked with traffic and I have heard of folks who had trouble getting in. Find an elevated location with as many reception bars as possible. My family was all using Verizon and it seems we had more bars when we stood apart from each other.
- if you have more than one person with a cellphone, have one of them open a browser to time.gov to cue the others to open their app at 7:57 am.
- multiple people in your party can try at the same time, but remember to to have all your tickets registered on each other's apps.

At the 8am blitz we got in group 34.

With all the trouble I think ROTR got a little overhyped in my mind but I wasn't disappointed at all. I just wanted a longer experience. There were definitely some jaw-dropping moments. Try to go in without spoilers, if possible, and you'll get the most out of it.

I'm sure it was fun but that sounds like way more headache than it's worth to go on a ride.
