Disney Star Wars Parks and/or Website Products

Overall I think they are a great thing for the prop replica community mostly because I feel the love of prop replica collecting is more important than maintaining accuracy in prop replica collecting. Because of the Legacy lightsabers, there are now a large number of fans that have and maintain a respectable collection that they otherwise might not have if they had to pay pricing for other licensed or fan made replicas.

For my own personal collection, it is a case by case basis. Sometimes it deals with how much a particular design resonates with me. In those cases, I might opt for ensuring higher quality or details. My current collection of legacy hilts is as follows:
Jedi Temple Guard collector box set
Mara Jade collector box set
Jedi Dooku
Kanan Jarris (with belt clip for each part)
Cal Kestis damaged hilt
Gungi

In most cases, I picked these because the designs are cool and other vendor options are either limited or expensive. Even if you only use them for static display, it’s still a great value. Especially something like the Kanan that I got online store on sale for $111.

Like you said, some designs feel if they fall short. Like the Rey lightsaber has a weird switch to activate and the Hasbro was once offered at a super cheap price on sale. So Rey Hasbro Black Series was an easy choice over Legacy. Another example, I really like the Shin Hati hilt but the Legacy version is sort of disproportionate in design. I could deal with slightly oversized but the emitter is too stubby. At this point, I am content with the one I 3D printed for myself.

Another example is that the Ahsoka rebel style hilts are just too thick, I spent close to the same on a set of resin and metal static hilts from Anakin Starkiller.

I think the new Sol lightsaber looks good but I am hoping it might go on sale around Black Friday.

I always look for review and comparison YouTube reviews to help me decide.

I have often equated Spock's line to Valeris (in Star Trek VI) to our hobby...

"Logic, logic, logic- logic is only the beginning to wisdom, Valeris - not the end..."

ACCURACY is only the beginning to the love of our hobby; not necessarily the end.

(So says the man who matched to the original every line and every light on the Death Star!)

On the saber's I picked up...

I think the overall design of Obi-Wan's - using cobbled together real-world parts, that are not inherently a tube (like Vader's) - makes adding the electronics and power pack difficult, and results in the saber being too big around...

I also feel that the fat adaptor for the blade (along with the overall increased diameter) likely contributed to an oversized emitter.

Again, I love the Vader, and even if it is "off", I can't see it.

And it will be added to a life-size figure, so will either be in his hand, or "cloaked by his cloak".

Accuracy is a strange thing with lightsabers. I still have the first release of Obi-Wan's Attack of the Clones lightsaber from Master Replicas. I know there are better and more accurate versions. But I keep that first release basically for nostalgia and remembering how I felt at the time.

The number of options for lightsabers today is pretty remarkable.

Agree, if I’m keeping the saber in my display case, I try and get it the most accurate

But the ones I make to arm the celebs at cons for photo ops with their fans, I make them close enough

The general audience doesn’t know the difference and fans beat the heck out of them

one event with Roger I had him showing how the motor stunt worked, a kid mistaken the glasseye for the power button and pushed it in.. the motor stunt was all vintage..

Right then and there I decided to build some “close enough” sabers so the fans can drop them and I wouldn’t have to worry

I have a bad feeling about the mouse droid, at least online. I saved it in my Wish-list on Shop Disney and while I can still see it there, if I click on it, it just takes me to the general "Cars, Trains & RC Toys" page and not the product page like it used to.

The 3PO head was the same way until it went back in stock.

Just picked up the Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Legendary sabers.

Am being lazy (and not reading back in the thread)...

What are the general thoughts on these?

Vader seems far more correct than the Kenobi...
Just finished watching The Acolyte series...

Perhaps its been previously discussed - but seems to me the on-screen sabers have taken on dimensions and proportions more closely resembling the retail products from Disney.

Mainly, larger and fatter hilts, and fatter blades.

"If you can't make the toy match the screen-used, then let's make the screen-used match the toys..."

To maximize on retail value, and marketing?

Or is it just my imagination...?

I think that you are right.

They may even be using the retail Saber blades in their hilts.

You’ve got a blade that’s already glowing, just add a few extra effects and you’re good.

Plus, no one will complain about the accuracy if the onscreen hilts are fatter, and the retail versions match them perfectly.

That being said, I did get the master Sol lightsaber.

It is one of my new favorite hilts. It’s not overly bulky, it has a nice weathering job to it so it looks used. It has a simple design that looks like something a Jedi would cobble together.

The larger hilts in The Acolyte were a result of them containing the electronics and batteries needed for the practical blade effects.

I'm still waiting for them to make Jecki's lightsaber. Someone around here posted about The Acolyte visual book that came out recently. I guess if they are going to make her lightsaber it should be fairly soon while the interest is still there.

Somewhat along those lines, I'd like a closer look at Chewie's cousin's (joke) light saber!

And how large it is...

Jumping between various Disney products here (but that's what this thread is for right!?).

Does the Skywalker Legacy ESB saber suffer from a larger diameter than the original Graflex tubes?

Looked at a couple comparisons on YouTube, and it looks very close...
