Disney's only destination now is oblivion. They, like all of woke Hollywood, haven't learned that if you want to increase your audience, you don't tell the people already giving you money that you want them to go away.
Yeah but haven't you heard that pithy remark about going broke. It's been said so often that it must be true right? Right?....People are so cute when they actually think Disney is going to crash, burn, and go away. They may make missteps. They may piss off a whole group of people who think they went “woke”. They may be boycotted by said group(s). But, they aren’t going away. They might get hurt a little financially in a few select areas, but they make more money in all other areas that they will be just fine. They will be here long after we are all gone, and we are all finished complaining.

Is that why their operating income, net income, total assets and total equity were all up last year? Sounds like financial oblivian calling…Imagine if the Statue of Liberty was owned/opped by a private company. That company might mis-manage its way out of business in the wrong hands. But they aren't gonna tear down the statue itself and sell it for scrap metal. It's obvious to everyone that the statue is way more valuable if it's intact. When the company's financial smoke clears, that statue is still gonna be perched on that island. It's still gonna be covered in tourists. The paperwork and people in charge of it will have changed.
The Disney name, the mouse, the duck, the theme parks, the old movie catalog . . . that stuff is not in any danger of being thrown in a landfill. But the parent company is in trouble right now. It got in trouble because they've had incompetent management for many years. The incompetence has seeped into many levels of the company. Their problems are not minor and they won't be fixed overnight.
And bear in mind - Disney has serious PR/marketing/propaganda chops. Connections in the media. Etc. The MSM doesn't just speak freely about them as a general rule. No doubt Disney has been using those muscles to downplay how much trouble the company is really in. Like, for years already.

George doesn't want it. He's retired. It's why he sold it in the first place. How many of you here want Disney to sell Lucasfilm and how many of those want George to buy it back? A follow on question would be how many of you were thrilled when George sold it to Disney because you couldn't stand what he had done to YOUR franchise?
Frankly I don't really care if Disney sells it off and if so who buys it. Someone will complain about it no matter what.

What is clear is that general audiences are craving novelty and I think we can all benefit from it because Hollywood will follow the money wherever it leads. Hopefully that will convince them to pursue things other than this dying franchise model that's kept them creatively inhibited for decades.
Let's just hope Hollywood takes the right lessons from it. I wouldn't bet on it though.I will say that this weekend was a step in the right direction with audiences voting with their wallets. How that will eventually play out? That's another matter.
