Disney buying Lucasfilm (new Star Wars movies on tap)

I'm excited and scared at the same time.

My nephew will be 10 when SWVII will come out - I hope these are quality films. If they're as good as the prequels - which he loves - that will work for me.

I have no doubt they will be at least the quality of the PT.

They stopped a few Marvel sales on eBay because it was more public. The JY here is still a pretty safe place... But it has been known to get C&D'D

But not the OT.

The first 3 films have just taken on an even greater historical significance.and cultural significance.

Thanks Hobo Wan Kenobi for the interview video. Yeeps, KK's icy stare at GL (00:20 mark) reminds me of this Palpatine speech from ROTS:

"He became so powerful.. ..the only thing that he was afraid of was ..losing his power. Which, eventually of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew. Then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic.. ..he could save others from death, but not himself."

George Lucas just did this interview

I feel like I have just woken up in to an alternative universe. One with more Starwars films in it!!!!! This is great news for the franchise. Look what they have managed with Marvel.

Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm announce ep7

How many jedifyfes will this topic bring? Double threads in wrong forums
Sheesh :lol

I don't know how I feel about this yet, ill be excited if they get rid of the clone wars nonsense and stick with live action. Hey, maybe we can see a shadows of the empire movie, that would be really neat. I highly doubt the rpf will be affected by the buyout since people still sell rocketeer props and such

As I said before, you can clearly see who has ties to the 501st as they are the ones in totally disbelief that it could end. They feel just because they do some good that Disney won't squash them. It could be a wake up call for them as Disney has a rep for looking out for themselves first.

Oh, I'm under no illusion about the possibility of it ending. I'm just saying that there will be considerably backlash from it.

Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm announce ep7

Hey guys let's keep all this topic in one thread provided in post#2 above :)

Shocking to say the least.

This isn't going to mean much for the legions. Disney invited them to sw weekends after all; they weren't forced to accommodate us by lucas. You don't see them going after the marvel costume groups, either.

I do imagine this will not be good for the armour makers, but then again aren't there still plenty folds selling all sorts of captain america and iron man stuff?

The best news is that they will be making a sequel without george lucas and getting the holy trilogy on blu ray is a real possibility now.

Could be a good thing - look at marvel.

Also plenty of marvel costumes and props out there right now on the rpf.

I havent seen any blow back from that.

That's a good point, actually. There's lots of Iron Man runs going on here, and I've never seen any legal action taking place. *Knocks on wood*
There's so many Star Wars things that I want to buy down the road. I hope I still have the opportunity to do so. :unsure
As for the movies, Disney did a great job with the Marvel movies. They may be "our only hope" for some new material.

Countdown begins to the Joe Johnston directed Boba Fett film that he lobbied for last year...

Why do I hear 'The Imperial March' thundering through my head?

Images of Mickey in a dark robe commanding "Wipe them out. ALL of them!"
