Brackets glued and drying and removed two of the handle clips. A little worried that I can't bend where it's been glued......fingers crossed for tomorrow

Yeah Sintra day.....after doing my homework I decided to boil the Sintra. Super easy and it bent with little effort. Getting closer to mounting these to my shield. A little bummed that the glue didn't hold in spots but not shaping it with one whole piece was the issue. I have my 3m tape and some sanding to do to make it flush. All in all very happy so far. Also had time for a side project my helmet.
Two cheap disguise masks and some glue to create a more rigid helmet. I filled the masks w big bag of plastic shopping bags it offers mass and its shapeable......now all I need is a suit

Gorilla glue and locite super glue for the edges and eyes and nose part. Also used the plastic sheet that came with as well just cut out the eyeholes. Sandwiched it between both masks.

I have mounted brackets yea!!! I sanded and cleaned all the pieces and the shield with rubbing alcohol so everything would stick together. The forearm bracket didn't come out as well as I hoped. But it's a start

Yea!!! All belt brackets cut and sanded now how to mount them? Super glue or 3m tape? Also thinking about filling in the star indent with sitar scraps.....it's been slow going but fun.

Making mounting nails for the belt brackets out of Sintra scraps and then I will drill the holes line them superglue and then belt brackets done and just need the leather.

Finally got leather to make the straps bad news is I had to rip apart my shield to do it. In the end it will be worth it.

I Finally Have leather armbands attached to my inner shield. I tried and failed with rivets. So I took a few days off to regroup and found some brass chicago screws. They worked. So thrilled plus I like the brass its a nice pop of color and period accurate not screen accurate. Just need to rejoin the two shields and have a dance party for getting that done after soooo long. Yea!!!!

Joined the two shields with expanding foam, also used it to fill in the star and reinforce the brackets. I'm waiting for it to finish curing and then I will cut and sand off the excess.

Bad news the foam dried on the front. Any suggestions on how to clean it off? And good news the foam filled in the star indent and is holding the shields together well. Just need primer for both sides and then I can paint

I have some #000 steel wool I'm going to try, but I was planning on repainting it anyway. I'm worried about gouging it too much with a razor. If the steel wool doesn't work I have some 220 sandpaper

Looks like I'm going for battle damaged for now till spring comes and I can repaint it. I'll be painting the back this weekend

Painted the back black for the rub n buff any ideas on how to seal the rim of the shield? The width varies. Right now I have packing tape on the edge I want to see if it will hold paint or if I need to find something else.You could use bondo putty (the stuff that come in a tube) as long as the gap isn't too big. After a light sanding, it paints up nicely.

sweet. Thanks what grit sandpaper should I use on the bondo?
600 or 800 for the first pass. Then 1000 or 1500 for a finish pass before paint. Since it's on an edge, it won't take much effort to smooth it out. Oh, and wet sanding it with those grits is the way to go.
