Diamond Select Star Trek Tricorder

Hi guys,

I talked to the guy at newforce and he said Diamond wants to release all three tricorders at the same time. They are in production now for mid to late May release. He turned them down for the exclusive on the
geo. :unsure

He allso said there was an exclusive Star Trek the motion picture Phaser which differs as you know from the Wrath of Kahn but he wasn't sure he was going to be the exclusive carrier.

Got some larger photos of Dr. McCoy's medical tricorder toy packaging. :thumbsup Also, new photo of the backside. :) Notice the packaging does state that the medical scanner is "electronic."

Now I'd like both as well. Ordered the Medical one but this Science Tricorder looks col too. I guess I'm going to wait until released and see the differences.:cool

So, medical scanner has sound and the science scanner has light, put them both together and we still have no spin? Well, we'll see how easy it is to modify them. Motors are really small these days. This thing has been pushed back so many times I have little interest in it anymore. Of course, still having an MR TOS tricorder makes the wait a lot easier.

I've had these both on order so long I had to update the credit card info I gave them. I even bought an MR tricorder case a year ago to display an AA tricorder- because it seemed right around the corner back then. One of the retailers told me there should not be any further delays.

WOW!

This may have to go with my lifesized
SPOCK!! (serious here)

Any word when locally released?

Toys R Us?

Spencers?

Or ??

Right now there's conflicting reports. I think we won't know for sure until someone actually cracks open a box and tries it out.

Thanks for posting all the pics, guys.

As for whether the med scanner spins -- I CAN NOT BELIEVE this info is not available. Certainly the company has known for some time whether the thing spins or not.

I thought a rep from the company posted links to YOUTUBE videos showing off the sound/light action of the product...why can't this same person address this very simple and straightforward question?

Of course, I realize the sun will still rise regardless of whether the scanner spins or not...but I am continually amazed at WHY this info can not be more readily available.

Yes, I understand product changes as it is developed, engineered, manufactured, etc., but I bet you a sack of wet tribbles that somebody, somewhere has known for weeks or months whether the scanner spins or not.

My money is on it NOT spinning, as I can't imagine they could work that kind of functionality into a toy of this price. I'm delighted they even INCLUDED the scanner...and if anybody here figures out how to offer after-market upgrade parts to make it spin, count me in.

I don't think anyone knew for sure if the Diamond communicator was going to have the spinning moire disk until they were practically in hand. And leading up to the release there were still people that had "inside" info that were adamant it wouldn't, because there's no way a $25 toy would have it.

So I'm willing to wait and see and be pleasantly surprised with whatever ends up being in the box.

Even on the tricorder it was pretty up in the air if these would have spinning moires as well, until the YouTube videos cleared that up.

My instinct is the medical scanner will only have the "warble-warble" scanning sound, since the box only mentions sound effects, but honestly, I'm okay with that.

For $40 I'm still a little surprised Diamond can afford to do a full sized tricorder at all, let alone two (maybe three!) different models with lights, sounds, voice clips, spinning moires, and hand scanners with independent electronics.
