Diamond Select Star Trek Tricorder

All mine does is make a few noises, flash some lights and spin a spinny thing.

Damn. Ripped off again. :cry

Then again, it can make my wife roll her eyes.

Wow -- my tricorder has the same affect on my wife...come to think of it, so do my phaser and communicator!

;)

Medical scanner with original sound effects and "clicking sounds?" WTF?

I have no idea why the geological tricorder would have sounds clips from Majel, but I think it's cool Diamond is going out of their way to really differentiate the three tricorders.

I must admit that, initially, I was not wild about the medical tricorder featuring Dr. McCoy talking and the sciences version featuring Mr. Spock talking. But the You Tube demonstration videos clearly showed that two of the three operating buttons on the toys control the various sounds that a tricorder should make. Only the third button makes them talk, so it's optional. Given that, I think it's pretty darn cool that the original voice of the Enterprise's computer will be featured on the geological tricorder. And I agree with you that DST is going out of their way to make the toys different and fun.

Not sure what was meant about the clicking noise, but sometimes when McCoy operated his scanner it did make sorta a clicking-type noise (maybe it was just the sound of the spinner motor?).

That's nothing: mine can make my wife complain about the credit card bills.

My wife goes revenge shopping.
That's why I never show her my new stuff whenever possible. It just magically appears neatly on a shelf, mixed in with the other stuff.

It would be nice to think they are doing that for the fans. But I believe they are doing it so the fans will pony up money for all the different versions, which they are apt to do.

Yes, excellent technique. I try to do this myself, except it's challenging when stuff is delivered via snail mail -- huge box -- she asks, "What's THAT?"

Harder to sneak it on the shelf when there are boxes and packing peanuts involved.

I have followed a friends advice for years

Don't get Married, Don't have kids.............

Childfree is great.
I never wanted any anyways so no regrets at all, it was a bear to find a woman that would go along with that too but it worked out.

My friend will ask me every once in a while

What are the two rules in Life ???

and I answer Don't get married and Don't have kids

and he says correct, then I say but Carl you got married and had kids

and his reply That is correct and I am speaking from experience :cry

Two words come to mind....

OFF TOPIC

Yeah, I agree. And to get back on-topic, here's the well-thought-out rendering of the viewscreen for the sciences tricorder.
