Diamond Select Star Trek Tricorder

DST gave an update today (on their blog) on the geological tricorder and said they have not yet found a retailer for it. :cry

I have followed a friends advice for years

Don't get Married, Don't have kids.............

really? When I got married, it made my life worthwhile.

The correct advice shoukld have been, 'Don't get married badly or for the wrong reasons'.

Now which one to get of the 2 tricorders: the medical or science? And where to get them, especially since I'm from Romania... BTW anyone got the Phaser and Commuicator? Are they ok? Thanks :)

The AA/DST TOS phaser and communicator toys are awesome. Search on google-shopping and you can probably find a retailer who will ship to your country.

Tricorder version is up to you... I think the Science has the better looking screen, but it also has an entirely new scanner, whereas the Medical scanner is actually based on an existing prop.

As far as the Phaser and Communicator are concerned, they're pretty damn cool. Both are easy to mod into great looking props. I own the Comm myself, and I love it.

The scanner on the science tricorder isnt made up....it was used in a few episodes. Ill have to get some screen caps for you guys. Either way, its not as well known as the med scanner, but I think its nice that they are giving a little extra. Plus I love that they put detail in the bottom door.

I am great, you are great. :sleep

Always loved Dr Daystrom-- William Marshall the Othello of Star Trek!! And who can forget him as Blackula or the King of Cartoons.

Just once on Pee-We's playhouse in the early 1990's I wish he had said " M5--Let the cartoons begin!!"

Thanks a lot Neon Sentry Pumpernickel and kertratz! :) Now waiting for these to be released to get one (or maybe both) LOL

One more question Diamond Select related please. What is with all the colors of the phasers' handles: black, white, gold, and bronze handle? Are these movie acurate, or just the black one? Is there a difference between them except the paint on the handle?

I guess the different colored handles are a cheap way to make "exclusives". :lol

While many people believe the "correct" grip color for the TOS phaser is the dark bronze metallic (as used on the Master Replicas phaser), others think it was actually a charcoal gray metallic.

Some of the "dummy" phasers may have had black grips, I personally do not know for certain.

The "gold" AA grip seemed like a botched attempt to make a bronze-handled phaser. Ultimately they did come out with a toy that matched the Master Replicas colors pretty well.

The white handles are actually screen accurate as well, since the phasers in the first eight episodes of the show were BLACK with white grips. (actually I think they were more of a cream or pearl color, but white is good too).

A new photo of Entertainment Earth's TOS medical tricorder in its packaging. Can anyone make out the text on the packaging in the blue section? The tricorder pictured on the right is a prototype, not the actual toy.

This could simply end up being the best toy anything ever produced. I have one pre-ordered and I NEVER do that.

Where are the other two being sold?

The rectangular mesh screen is lame, but other than that this is really cool. I can only assume the packaged one is the production version?

Can anyone make out the text on the packaging in the blue section?

Underscore is a word I can't figure out at all, words in brackets I'm unsure of, the rest seems to be correct as far as I can tell.

The sciences version is up for pre-order at multiple online sites (toysrus.com, walmart.com, amazon.com, etc.), but the best price I've seen (and where I ordered from) is newforcecomics.com. DST recently stated that they have not yet found a retailer for the geological version (although early rumors indicated a possible Toys 'R Us exclusive).

Official release date is 5-27-2009 for medical and sciences. As you know, the medical version is an Entertainment Earth exclusive.
