Hey gang! FINALLY got myself the science tricorder on the cheap. It has only one flaw; the 'screen graphics' image is askew. I'd love to take the thing apart to straighten it out, but don't know how? What have you guys done to dismantle this thing????
PLEASE HELP!!!! :confused
There are pins behind the back plate.
You have to pry them out, depends how much glue they used on yours as to how easy it will be.
There is also a easy mod you can do (if you know how to solder carefully) that enables sounds from all three versions of tricorders. A three way switch can be installed and you can select which versions sounds you want on the fly.

Can someone please give a step by step guide to getting this thing open ? :confused
I want to paint the screen grey but there seems to be no way into the head part.
I'm sure there are other build threads on these but here's mine at TPZ...LINK
The panel is glued in, so you need to work a thin blade or jewelers screwdriver under an edge and carefully pry until you break the bond. Be careful when lifting the panel out as to not disconnect the LED's.
I just went static with mine, as the sounds were sped up anyways.
Painting the screen is a HUGE improvement imho...so good luck!
