Dexter's Kill Bag and Tools

I just want to say how much I love threads like this. Just look at all that we've found and all that we've managed to accomplish in just ONE WEEK!

This is the RPF at its finest. Let's not stop until we all have our very own SA Kill Tools.

...I have a feeling that this thread may have just landed a few of us on government watch lists. :lol

Here's the email i got back on the bag

Hello Mike

Thank you for your order and the e-mail. The BLACK Messermeister 12-pocket Knife Roll that we have sent you is the only black knife roll we carry from Messermeister . We do have a RED knife roll also. We checked in our inventory and the color on the knife roll bag is very close to the color on the web page. It is a very recent picture. The strip does not come in any different color. Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. I would be glad to help.

You know, one thing it could be is black marker when they tried to cover the logo. You ever noticed how a black marker will yellow over time or in sunlight.

I think the blade design is pretty much spot on. If those who contributed in the thread agree, I say let GF do his thing.

Well, since I was going to share it with the community anyway, here it is:

The top curve on yours doesn't seem smooth. It goes in on the I of Nick. I think the angle on the pommel is off also.

I see where the blade touches the handle to be even with the handle. The actual blade goes in.

Easy fixes, all of those. I had scaled some of the reference material so large that there were a few guesses I had to made regarding what light and dark tones meant, looking at that image now, I agree that the top portion of the blade and handle should be flush.

...and the blade curve was just a slip of the mouse. Remember, this started out as a personal diagram. But anything that the community agrees needs changing or anything that Jimmy needs changed for any possible run, I'll be sure to get on to it.

I want this thing to be as perfect as you all do.

This seems to be shaping up pretty nicely I really hope this becomes a reality.I refuse to buy any knife yet cause the Kill knife comes first :love

If we need more screen grabs please let me know

As many as you can get! Right now, I'm focusing heavily on the bottom of the edge bevel and how it terminates as well as the bottom of the handle.

Any details you can find would be great...also, we're going to need to find a way to scale the knife's profile, so shots that show its thickness would be great.

Nick check out the pic of the prop guy holding the knife. The bottom seems smoother and a consistent angle. To me it looks like only the edges are rounded.

Frosty, write my name down somewhere so you can refer to it later should you need to. ;)

Everyone: My inquiries have been less than fruitful, as I was hoping to get a price less than $30 on those bags. I can get a bulk order from Mess. themselves, but it would be about $34. Here's the lowest price I've found, available for individual purchase:
Cutlery Case-Soft Knife Luggage Holds 12 items In Black Nylon - Knifecenter.com
$31.99

Also, I am in agreement with Matt. Looks the same to me; there is a dark region on the pictures posted that obscure the raised patch so we can't really be sure. If the colors are not the same as on screen, then they've been altered by the prop department.

Here's V.2 of the kill knife design.

I feel it's mostly there now. Just a few little tweaks here and there, maybe.

Hey Pitbull, to put this bag debate to rest. Season 5 Episode 12-27:30ish, right BEFORE Dexter gets out of the car, he grabs the bag and there is a nice close shot of the Messermeister logo. If we can get that screen grab I think we'll be able to see if the black rectangle is there or not.

WOW! That's fantastic. Okay, I have 1 little thing to fix based on that picture. Thanks. (Also it appears that the holes in the grip plates are just tapped out with one side having the flush-screw and the other side having the "stem" of the screw cut level with the surface)

For now, here is a quickie little overlay I did between my V.2 design and the actual knife.

That was just scaled and rotated, no perspective distortions, no tricks. What you see is what you get.

Looks to me like the blade goes all the way the length of the knife , no? Is it cut to the shape of the handle?

Looking great so far Nick.

It's definitely a full tang knife. What that means is that the piece of metal that comprises the blade also runs the full length of the handle.
