Dexter: Blood Slide Case

All of us are Fortunate - that he has welcomed My intrusion into his professional life. Let's all be patient ('till April) & I have a good feeling that this could be F U N for all of us - the Fan-fellowship of Dexter!

I know I'm stoked. Thanks for your wilingness to spread the tentatively coming wealth of knowledge.

For Comic Con 2008, there were some screen used props displayed at the Entertainment Earth Booth. I was wondering who made this box, as the design is similar to the real box. (The clasp, the pins that hold the sheet of paper)

The clasp on the TB looks very similar to on that is one my art box - close, but close doesn't really cut it.
The clasp is an important detail that should not be a 'close enough' so I hope we can find that...

Yeah I think with Dexter props, the slide case is THE prop to have. Everything else is just extra. If someone can come up with an accurate affordable box, that would be a sure fire purchase.

Thanks for getting the info too. It's awesome.

Is that knife set from season 4? Havent seen that season yet so don't ruin anything for me!!

No worries, it's from Season 1. It's the episode where he is just about to destroy the slide box and get rid of all his kill tools.

Just checked: Season 01, Episode 6.

The Season 2 DVD boxset has an extra called Dexter's Toolkit - it shows close ups of each of the "tools" and names what type of knife, saw, etc they are.

When the series eventually ends, there should be an ultimate blu-ray box set that comes packaged in the trophy box:love

Ok, So, I used my own blood and made a slide like Dex does. Drop of fresh blood,2 slides, SQUISH...and a slide. Put it down and walked away. 4 hours later...a pink slide with blood squished all the way to the edges...
Maybe I'm hallucinating, but it didn't look like the show at all.
Long story short, I would like to see other attempt's at this besides a lot of talk about how wrong I am about what I made.
I would love to get measurements to see how close I was to the real deal.
And specifically,...
*** How or does, the original box fit 2 slides together in one slot? All the boxes I've seen are slotted for 1 to fit.***
I will say that this thread is very thorough with it's research. I have done all the trial and error with making these boxes and all of you have keyed on all the issues. But, not on the "how" of actual production. There are things about this piece that make it difficult to produce.
i.e. The thickness of the slides themselves...if you use "2", the box has to be a certain size proportionately bigger than a standard "1" slide slotted box.
I say this because...
My box slots are cut by hand. I made a template in PS. 50 - 3/32" black lines....3/32" apart

This makes, in the end, with 2 end rails and 2 slot rails added, an ultimate length of around 11 1/2 inches in length.
So, I am very interested in the finer details...like this one.
I am going to make a PS layout for all the rails within this piece for my own design. It would be nice to complete it with correct measurements.
well, I cant argue with something youve tried yourself, it just makes no sence why it wouldnt work. in what way did you get the blood? was it from a cut or did you bite the inside of your mouth to get it? Just curious, lol. But I guess you could just use paint.
When the series eventually ends, there should be an ultimate blu-ray box set that comes packaged in the trophy box
but it wouldnt fit :lol
...or would it?
its possibly to find the knives but its just very time consuming.

See, it has to be cheek blood. Cheek blood is different from finger blood or leg blood.
I really hope youre joking.I asked about biting the inside of your mouth because I thought maybe upon spitting it out it would mix with saliva and thin it out a little. This conversation is getting kinda weird :p
