Scratch built the Destiny chest armor buckles this weekend. The buckles are built out of various thicknesses of styrene and wooden dowels. The originals were then molded and cast in smooth-on smooth cast 300

This pic shows how the chest armor will actually go on. I split the armor down the center seam then attached a plastic snap buckle and placed velcro on either side. The alpha lupi chest decoration will go over the top of all of this so the seams will not be visible.

nice work. hey isnt the big cylindrical bump on the buckle you made from a dowel actually supposed to be the belt strap itself going through the buckle? hate to maybe point that out after you have already molded and cast it.

The lines were made with a wood burning tool

I thought that at first but after looking at it on screen and in a couple concept drawings it doesn't line up, and.......it's just a costume right

Here is the Destiny chest armor with the straps and buckles attached. I have also added the snaps to the lower section, these will help connect the Alpha Lupi crest to the armor. You can also see how the crest will cover all of those nasty functional seams.

So for anyone that doesn't follow my Facebook page I announced last night that I just do not have the time to make this chest armor into the Alpha Lupi exotic before it has to be done for multiple conventions. I just have to much going on between orders, cons, and family. So instead I based it off of one of the original Destiny Hunter concept art pics. Still trying to decide on my overall color scheme. I 'll wait to paint it until I complete the shoulder guards and belt.

I know that it has been a while but I am back again with some more progress. I have finished the shoulder pads and am working on the belt. There are still 3 detail components that have to attach to the belt before I can call it complete. Don't pay attention to the color of the foam it will all be primed and painted. I will get some WIP pics up next week

Finally got around to adding the battle damage and I even had time to plasti dip today. It is awesome how just adding a uniform color to the entire chest piece really makes a lot of the details pop.

Steps for the creation of the Hunter belt. 1) cut a strip of 1/4 inch foam aprox 5 3/4" high. I skinned the top and bottom of that with 2mm craft foam 2) I cut 1/4 ' strips of 4mm craft foam and glued them down in two lines to give the belt the raised look. Then covered that with 2mm blue craft foam. All of it was glued down with Barge. 3) Again using 2mm craft foam I made the belt strips and glued them in place with Barge. 4) I constructed the belt buckle by cutting up some of the buckles I have made for the upper section of the armor. I cut out the belt loops and poked them all the way through the foam belt to give it a functional look. 5) Complete all except for some add on details.
