Denuo Novo (only) New and existing products

Here are pics of the DN Shoretrooper helmet (from the Anovos thread).

I haven't seen any DN AT-ACT's yet.

I remember seeing pics of the Royal Guard (from DN), I just don't recall in which thread. It's either that Anovos thread above or earlier in this thread.

Thanks! I think I have actually seen those, but I read them over again. The AT-ACT helmet was with the Shore Trooper.

As ggrifaw said, those are accurate to Rogue One, for what that's worth. As with the Stormtroopers, I feel there were some gains and some losses vis-a-vis the OT. One thing in particular was always my real-world noodling to figure out ways to explain the Imperial Starfleet as a combined service, but wearing a single uniform. Since everyone we saw in ANH had an Army rank (for the record, Motti is referred to as a General in the credits -- no idea where "Admiral" came from for him), not counting the ubiquitous and useless "Commander" that George loved so much, I liked to say those single-row rank badges (Tarkin is an exception, because above and commanding both, as territorial governor) are the Army badges and the ones in ESB were Navy (ROTJ also doesn't count, because their costume continuity... isn't). A further minor difference that helped was that the backplates in ANH had a single screw-hole centered on each short edge, where the backplates in ESB had one in each corner.

I haven't gotten one of the Anovos/Denuo Novo badges, so I can't speak to the modifiability of them. I have been perfectly fine making my own for years from one-inch stainless steel strip, cut, drilled, and brushed, with EAO switch covers pressure-filled with clear resin and then epoxied in place (with the help of a guide jig). Those look like it should be easy enough to drill the backplates without screwing things up.

I just attempted to place a preorder for the Grand Admiral rank badge and shipping is going to be $50. That seems a bit much. I'm going to email DN to see what they say about that.

What's your shipping address? Hoth?
There must have been a mistake.

$50???

$5 would be more like it.

$300 for a pair of overalls style pants??!! Three. Hundred. Dollars. Not custom fit or tailored. No ornamentation or out-of the ordinary assembly process required. Looks like an experienced seamstress could knock it out in a few hours with a decent template pattern and $30 worth of fabric.

...got to be kidding...
I think you have a flawed understanding of what's involved... Hopefully they have the machined dies to punch-cut all the pieces they want to make in a given size in one go. That saves a lot of cutting time. But the pieces still need to be pinned and sewn. A single pair of those high-waisters would take more than an hour just to sew, never mind the steps up to that point. And quality fabric of the sort they had woven for these tends to run at least $30 a yard, and those pants will take a couple. And, most importantly, they have to factor in the egregious chunk Disney and Lucasfilm take. If they don't want to operate at a loss, that has to get factored in somewhere.

I am all in favor of supporting American businesses, in America, employing Americans, making quality product in non-sweatshop conditions. This is the price I expect from anyplace decent paying their employees decently and committed to quality product. Heck, this is about how much Indy Magnoli's Star Wars pants run in "off-the-rack" sizing. Denuo Novo, and Anovos before them, make use of payment-plan services, which makes stuff like this more accessible to people who cannot, in fact, drop that much in one go, or justify it to themselves. For instance, I just spent almost a thousand dollars on Hachette's 1:350 scale Andromeda model kit. It's over four feet long and the hull is largely dis-cast metal. I could never have done that if it weren't broken up into sixty weekly issues of about fifteen bucks each. This is also how I got all my Anovos stuff.

I will poke a toe into the minefield and hope it doesn't get blown off, but this is what happens when wages don't keep up with inflation. The price is actually quite realistic and reasonable for what it is and what went into it. We, as a country, though, have gotten used to being underpaid ourselves and having access to cheap -- in every sense of the word -- goods made in places that pay their workers a couple dollars a day, if they're lucky, so they can charge far less and get our business. If you were getting the roughly thousand dollars a week minimum that would be the average in America if wages had kept up with inflation since the 1940s, this would be a sepcial-occasion luxury, sure, but an eminently affordable one.

I'm hopefully going to get at least the jacket. I've wanted one since 1980. I want to support Denuo Novo and, as someone working on my apparel-design degree, I understand why it costs what it does and don't have a problem with it. I am being the change I want to see in the world. :)

So what's the reason for the suspender style and the extremely long waist? Aren't these the same pants Luke wore on Dagobah? They're obviously a standard pair of pants. Plus the pockets look like they have a defined pocket and not just a flap. The DN version looks to have the pocket inside the leg of the pants. That's if there's an actual pocket there.

They made different versions of things for different needs. There were no actual magic closures on Luke's ROTJ tunic, so they made open-placket versions and closed, clean and increasingly weathered, all put on through an invisible zipper that ran up the side seam and out the underarm on one side, because the thing didn't actually open the way it looks like it does.

Similar here. When he has the jacket on, he's wearing the suspenders version to keep a clean look when he raises his arms and it hikes the jacket up.

Ah! Was not aware of that. I would think the suspenders-version would make battling with a lightsaber a bit more cumbersome.

I love how I still find out new secrets about 40+ year old movies that have been a huge part of my life the entire time.

Being a cosplayer, I would prefer regular pants to the suspender-style. It makes hitting the restroom much easier. My Mando outfit has separate pants and shirt. My wife uses a one-piece jumpsuit and had to cut & sew in a special area to allow her to use the restroom easily.

Did you ever hear back from DN about the shipping fees?
