Denuo Novo (only) New and existing products

So what's the reason for the suspender style and the extremely long waist? Aren't these the same pants Luke wore on Dagobah? They're obviously a standard pair of pants. Plus the pockets look like they have a defined pocket and not just a flap. The DN version looks to have the pocket inside the leg of the pants. That's if there's an actual pocket there.
It looks like they had the high waist and normal waist versions. The below link shows both. I wish there was a photo of the high waist from the front.

$300 for a pair of overalls style pants??!! Three. Hundred. Dollars. Not custom fit or tailored. No ornamentation or out-of the ordinary assembly process required. Looks like an experienced seamstress could knock it out in a few hours with a decent template pattern and $30 worth of fabric.

...got to be kidding...

Everyone assumes Jedi characters or characters with mostly fabric components are typically cheaper than armored ones. I suppose that's true if you're using bargain bin fabrics but high end textiles, which are what's used for the screen used items, are not cheap, and they're typically made from many yards of material when you account for all the layers. Even a Han Solo costume probably uses close to 11 yards of material when all is said and done and that's considered a relatively "simple" costume. Consider too that this Bespin set is made from a poly cotton blend, where the original was created from a wool gabardine mix. The reason for this choice was to bring production costs down to help turn a profit. If they used 100% screen accurate fabrics they might never turn a profit. The cost of wool can be up to $50 a yard depending on the quality and where you source it from.

Also consider that the Luke ESB offering from DN is a mass manufactured item. If you were to commission this from a tailor it would likely cost about the same or more. The world is used to paying next to nothing for clothing and yet the cost of quality fabrics and accounting for the labor to assemble a single garment is significant. I know because costume design and fabrication is my livelihood. Factor in the complexity of assembly and you're talking hours and hours of skilled labor that needs to be fairly compensated for. Just yesterday I completed a commissioned piece, a Jedi Outer Tunic, and the assembly alone took an entire day, and I'd spend an entire day prior to scale the pattern, another afternoon just cutting pieces out. The labor involved is significant because for every piece of material cut out it has to be sewn together which involves a number of processes which take time to execute, and that means paying an hourly wage to an employee.

Everyone wants to pay Walmart prices for high end clothing. Granted I have my issues with ANOVOS and subsequently have concerns about DN, but I can understand why they charge what they do.

It's strange to me that collectors won't bat an eye at spending $500 on a static lightsaber hilt and balk at a costume that costs more than $1000.00.

Now that you show this image, I realize I have seen this before, but I never thought that the suspender straps were part of the garment, but always thought it was a harness for some of the stunts.

Denuo Novo are having a Convention Sale.

Does anyone know if they ever did or have plans to do the Rogue One Strormtrooper Helemt? I really liked the design.

Anovos showed this off back in 2018. Who knows if DN will make it. I hope they do.

Wasn’t the Denuo Novo deal that they had to fulfill all outstanding Anovos orders before turning out new material?

What happened?!

No Vader
No Kylo costume (Force Awakens)
No OT trooper armor

Is this the time frame when we start getting folk here chime in with “understand, it takes time” ?!!!!!!

All the new stuff is great but…

They aren't offering much that Anovos had no plans for. A few things are variations such as additional Imperial Rank Badges and the 501st Clone Trooper. The TROS Kylo helmet needed some work to create since Anovos had the TFA helmet. The Jango Fett helmet didn't get to the point of Anovos accepting orders. Most of the items Denuo Novo is producing were sold by Anovos. Some of them were never delivered by Anovos. Which items are you concerned with?

None of us know what the details of the deal was. Denuo Novo said they would focus on fulfilling the unfilled Anovos orders. They are mostly doing exactly that. They haven't been offering items from newer shows like Obi Wan or The Mandalorian other the the Mando helmet which Anovos produced.

Thinking mainly of all the costume ensembles:

Fully finished Force Awakens and OT trooper armor sets.

Full Kylo costumes

Full Vader costumes

If I’m not mistaken, people were on the hook for all of these. And when I see how long it takes them to finish Han Solo and Director Krennic it makes me worried that we are back in the pattern of either years or not at all.

Good points though. For sure.

Myself, I had a small claims court decision against Anovos and the transfer of orders to Denuo really confused my efforts to collect. Boring story but now I am back in the boat of a.) no money and b.) silence regarding product.

Was it George Lucas who said that Star Wars rhymes?

I can certainly understand frustration with items Denuo Novo hasn't gotten to yet, especially the Kylo costumes. I would prefer if they would give some general idea of a sequence or broad timeframe for getting to the rest of the items. It is frustrating to not know if there are any plans for items you paid for years ago. I still have a few orders for Anovos items that haven't been mentioned by Denuo Novo yet.

Still waiting for the Rey staff and was told a couple months ago that it is releasing later this year, but I have not seen it on any lists.

I'm considering on swapping that order for a gift certificate for the value and putting it towards a helmet. I was given that choice by DN.

UPDATE: I just emailed them to get the total paid on a gift card. Hoping to possibly take advantage of the SDCC sale prices, but not sure I will receive the gift card in time.

Heard back that there is no Kylo costume timeline yet but that they will have a better idea in December.

Seriously.

My advice to them was that they not enter the month of October without broad mention of all the more elaborate, finished costumes.

But here we go again.

Given the cursed history of the product and the amount of information released on it since the change to Denuo Novo, my prediction for December will be a vague statement about having a better idea come summer...

KRENNIC CAPE -- INCORRECT COLOR & STITCHING

After waiting a long 5 years after purchasing this blasted thing -- wrongly assuming they actually had access to screen-used ensembles -- I finally received the Krennic cape today. The color is more of a tan tea-bag than the white or even the off-white we see Krennic wear in the film. Also, the stitching work on the collar is incorrect; same for the collar itself, which is far too short.

The only good thing I can say about this cape is that they did get the shoulders right where so many fail (i.e., the cape drapes slightly over chest in the front, as it should). But beyond that, this is certainly not worth $200. I was a fool to think this cape would be any good for all these years, always restraining from having a custom made in the interim, but I am glad I didn't purchase the tunic or I would have two wrong-colored pieces to take up room in my closet... If anyone has the tunic, I would love to hear about it or see it!

And the fabric is cotton POLYESTER -- not the pressed-cotton twill the listing boasts or what was actually screen-used; the fabric is far too thick on this cape as well. And notably, this item shipped from Rubies, as the FedEx sticker said (a pity...).

I can post pictures if anyone is interested. For the layperson cosplayer, this cape is okay -- but for us Krennician purist out there, look elsewhere. If anyone can recommend a suitable cape on the market, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

We stand here amidst Anovos' failure!

Sure, if you wouldn't mind. I'm not a Krennician purist but I'd be interested in seeing DN non-helmet products.

I don't know if they've even gone into production but DN stated they would be filling my Patrol Trooper helmet order from 2018 with a Jango. I ended up finding a Patrol Trooper helmet elsewhere and I don't think that ever went into production at ANOVOS. So it's a fine trade if they come through.
