Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

breakpoint,

I've had trouble so far with the fingers as well; tried a few different things over the past couple days with no luck.

I'm determined to make them from foam like the rest of the costume, and have an idea that I think will work that I'll be trying today. I won't be using the pep files except for as a reference.

If it works, I'll post a few pictures up.

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

I'm trying to get this done by the time the avengers comes out so I can the the best looking person there I just need an opinion on how it's coming along what do you guys think? I think the chest might be a little large but that's not really my biggest concern right now I am afraid I might be rushing it a little too :confused

oh and thank you robo and stealth for everything you have done for all of us. It is really appreciated!! You're making one of my biggest dreams come true!

It looks good so far but I think you might be right about the chest being a little too big and I think the shoulder bells look a little too small but that could just be the angle of the picture and me having to turn my head 90 degrees to see it. ;) Good luck with the rest of your build.

Hey Stealth,
Could I commission you to make me a suit? I don't have the time to make one myself between kids, work, and school. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Hi all I'm thinking of building a foam suit and have been doing a bit of reading.
I do have a question though.
Do you have to use a primer on the foam after you plasti dip it or pva when sealing?
I'm think of using both for different parts of the suit

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

I definitely recommend you to use a primer before you paint your suit otherwise the paint won't stick to it.
I did a test on my suit and it was awful without primer ;)

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Question:

I'd like to do this, but i'd like to make this with aluminum. Do you think it'd be possible to make the suit out of aluminum with this pattern/setup?

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

WOW I'm definitely loving all these new foam builds, i haven't checked up since i built mine. I have to piratically redo my legs since there just a lil too long and redo my chest and back since i want to make it slightly smaller and not damage the signature on my chest piece.. Time for another Build =D

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Can someone send me PDF files of the pepakura files?

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

I think thenextavenger means because 4share now requires you to be a member to download the files. I can't access them either.

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

I've been toying with building a suit just do it, but doing it traditionally with resin/bondo was putting me off cause of the time/work involved with it.

This though... I think I'm gonna take a stab at doing a foam suit first to see how good I can do with foam and then maybe step up to the harder material if want to keep the suit. Or maybe even try molding/casting the the foam parts to resin (never done that either, could be fun.... or a disaster, lol)

This might be a stupid question but how do you know what angle to glue the foam pieces together? I'm working on my my first PEP helmet with paper and it all just sorta goes naturally as you glue tabs together. Is it the same with using foam? The shapes with just naturally foam all the need angles as you assemble or does it take some finese knowing how it all goes?

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

ok guys i have finished my foam suit and is ready for plastidip. but my question is do i use plastidip primer or just go straight for the spray paint?

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Just read the thread to find the answer, the same question was asked just few posts above..

As I said, I would definitely recommend using primer before you paint your suit. ;)
