Defined STII:TWOK Phaser

I'm starting this thread for a couple of reasons. One, because I've seen so many variations on this particular phaser, I'd like to see what is accurate to the film version. Two, because eventually I'd like to own one but I want to see what an accurate one looks like first.

So please, if you have a movie accurate phaser from TWOK, please post pictures and maybe some history behind it.

Thanks. :)

I've only seen one or two pictures of the actual prop, which was apparently manufactured by Brick Price. One of the board members, Thermalized Plastics, makes an excellent version of this prop; I bought one a few years ago. Hopefully he'll post some beauty shots.

Well the WOK phaser was originally made for Star Trek the Motion Picture...

Here's the TMP prop compared to the Brad Nelson phaser which had been made for use in the aborted "Star Trek Phase II" series

Some background props in the scene where Kirk and party beam down to Regula from the space station. These props have no "dilityium crystal" disk in back

Here's a WOK phaser sold through Profiles in History, which ended up at the Sci Fi museum in Seattle

IMHO the best replica of this prop is the kit made by HMS for sale through Roddenberry.com... this version is dead-on to the screenused props IMHO.

And a last footnote is the TMP-style phaser which appeared in The Next Generation, in the epsisode "Yesterday's Enterprise"... this is actually a replica that was made by Ed Miarecki, and is recognizable by its long and funky-shaped handle. (this prop was also used as set dressing in "Too Short a Season" if I remember corrrectly)...

Do you agree with the difference in triggers? I know the STTMP are correct, but I have always thought they were the same basic thing with a slightly darker paintjob... and there's that trim on the sides too...slanted stripes.
