They can be found here along with the other parts I have made.

I love the bunk, but I'm not sure about the greeblie wall... it looks great but not sure if they are going to have it in later issues or not yet. They've got the tubes on the back wall near the nav console, so I would ilke to think they will be adding the big tube near the front as well... but since the furthest issue we've seen so far is issue 15, its hard to know. It would be great if they would show more of the completed interior other then the single picture that is floating around. Or even if they released a photo of all the packs that are coming just so we have some idea of what to expect and what to plan for. Maybe after maybe issue 30 or so we might actually know something. I can't wait to see the packs with the side walls and the engine vents. I am "hoping" that the engine vents aren't covered and solid like the original model and they use some PE to expose the vents and the fans underneath them. You can't see the engines in the press release photo. They really need to take some more photos of the completed model to give everyone a better idea of what to expect in the future. Right now everything is speculation.

From the information I have seen and from issue 14, they state that the hold is complete with the addition of the final wall, door ring, padding and entrance to the circuitry bay. So i think it may possibly be safe to assume that they are not supplying the large pipe on the opposite side to the ones they do supply.

When the video of the ramp was doing the rounds they did mention somewhere, I think on the official forum, that the ramp will be complete with issues 34-39. I think the next parts will be to complete the lower hull by issue 40, working in an anti-clockwise direction until we get to the ramp, and possibly issues 41 to 60 for the side walls and the mandibles with the rest for the rest of the top hull. Don't quote me on that just my best guess on what I have seen and received so far.

It would be awesome if they did go into detail on the engine vents, but as you say the only picture thats about of the complete model seem to be the one of the prototype, make you wonder if they are finessing it as they go.

Yeah I totally agree... would be nice if they would show a completed model. Gonna be awhile before we see any real good stuff come like the ramp or the rectenna not to mention the sidewalls... but I can't wait til we do! :)

Got a nice e-mail from Deagostini stating that the free Binder is on backorder for awhile, but they will still ship the next round of parts without it as not to hold back anyone's builds. They will then ship out the binders separately at a later date.

Great communication from this company. I am impessed.

Aw man! I was looking forward to putting my mags in a binder... I guess they didn't expect the popularity of this kit! That's ok... My email said the binder was included but I guess we'll see when the package arrives later this week. Keep your fingers crossed! :)

Yea got the same email. Let's hope we actually get the binder. As long as they come through the Falcon parts I won't jump ship.

EnvisagedImage, why'd you redo the bunk (which, in the movies, I think only Yoda could fit in anyways, so not sure why they call it a bunk). Is the DeAgostini one that bad?

Also, your Shapeways Hold Floor Panel comes in like 4 "flavors"... there's a HUGE price jump from the white/black ones to the others. Have you seen them all personally? Are the black ones that much worse than the others to justify the extra cash?

This is a piece I might upgrade (haven't received it yet), but I can't see spending over $100 on it. $50 isn't so bad... unless the piece is really bad. Just curious.

And nice work, by the way. :)

Thanks,
Chris

Probably from the backlash in the UK from issue 12 going on back order and deciding to not ship anything so that things stay in order. Supposedly they are back in stock and starting to ship this week, but some subscribers are up to 5 weeks behind because of it.

The bunk as supplied is just an oval hole with not many cushions in it.

As for the pricing on the floor I have tried to model as much stuff as i can so it will print in the cheaper materials, which have a sort of matt finish, which when sanded slightly give a smooth finish. I can only liken it to a sort of flock material or fake velvet sort of thing. So if you are not shy of a little sanding then the cheaper materials would work just as well as the FD and FUD

The first piece I have had from Shapeways with the cheaper material was the wall greeblie with the large pipe.

I got my floor in Frosted detail as I couldn't afford the FUD one and hadn't modified the file to be able to be printed in the cheaper materials when I ordered, I had a request to see if it could be done a few days later. (by the way Shapeways are phasing out Frosted Detail on the 15th of this month and introducing a higher resolution material which will probably be even more expensive so you have until the 14th to order anything in FD). There have been a couple of floors on this groups page on farce book https://www.facebook.com/groups/1560851284162459/

I will post the email about the changes from shape ways in a new post

Here is the email from Shapeways
On April 15th we will be retiring Frosted Detail and introducing Frosted Extreme Detail
sw-logo-email-2x-20140303.png
Dear Shapeways Designer,
Here at Shapeways, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our material offerings to be more enabling, better and faster for you. As a Frosted Detail Plastic designer, we are writing to let you know about upcoming changes in our materials that will affect products you have made and/or are selling in your Shapeways shop.
What's happening? On April 15th we are:

  • Introducing Frosted Extreme Detail (FXD), with a higher resolution than Frosted Ultra Detail (FUD)
  • Retiring Frosted Detail (FD); FUD will remain unchanged
  • Renaming the Detail Plastics materials Acrylic Plastics
[h=2]What does this mean for you?[/h]If you would like to order your designs in FD, please do so by April 14th to ensure your FD order goes through, as the transition will happen on April 15th. As noted on our Material Status page, we have added 4 days to our expected production time for FD in anticipation of high demand.
Designs that you’ve printed in FD will not go away, and can be ordered in either FUD or FXD. We are updating success rate metrics so successful FD prints from the past will count towards FUD and FXD.
If you have a Shapeways Shop, customers will no longer be able to order your designs in FD after the transition. Products previously available only in FD will no longer be for saleunless you enable another material like FUD or FXD (when it becomes available.) If you have multiple products, the Pricing CSV Wizzard makes it easy to update materials and pricing in bulk.
Where you currently see Detail Plastic material names, you and your customers will see the Acrylic Plastic names. White Detail becomes White Acrylic, Black Detail becomes Black Acrylic and Transparent Detail becomes Transparent Acrylic.
[h=2]Why are we doing this?[/h]Frosted Extreme Detail has a higher resolution than Frosted Ultra Detail, decreasing the layer height from 29 to 16 microns (the shorter the layer, the higher the resolution). While more expensive to produce, thinner layers means unprecedented detail and surface finish, sharper edges, less stepping, and stronger models. It’s perfect for the most demanding miniatures, figurines, and molds and masters for casting.
Frosted Detail is a fragile material that often breaks during 3D printing, requiring reprints that make the process costly and slow. Because it is printed enclosed in support material that is difficult to completely clean, it's also hard to give you the quality you deserve. Unfortunately, after trying hard to improve the process, we've decided to stop production and focus on better alternatives for you.
Finally, we are renaming Detail Plastic to help reinforce that it is stronger but less detailed than our Frosted Detail Plastic.

Kind Regards,
The Shapeways Team

Thanks for the info, Gareth. Not afraid of a little sanding. But with the details of that Hold Floor Panel, I'm not sure I'd be able to sand into all the details. That's my only concern.

The Large Pipe Greeblie Wall looks good in the black, at least in your photo... I'm guessing that's after you sanded it? I'll probably do some upgrade there, but I'll have to wait and see how access to the battery compartment (which looks to be behind your Large Pipe Greeblie Wall) is made.

I've got time on all this stuff. Being in the US, we're well behind you all "across the pond." Plus I like really to take my time thinking about everything first, before I act. Lessens my many mistakes. ;)

Thanks again,
Chris

I got my email about the binder... was really nice of them to let us know!

WOW it only took a day to ship to you?? It took my first batch 7 days to get to me here in Texas. but as I've read; most people are getting theirs by UPS but mine came USPS.

Yeah I was shocked too when my package arrived the next day the first time. I think there might be a distribution center close to where I live which would make alot of sense.

My first shipping notice was on a Friday and I received the package on Wednesday here in Oregon.

They are using the UPS shipping option that has UPS ship to your local USPS office, then the local post office does the final home delivery.

To all the Canucks out there, how long did it take from shipping to delivery? It's knocking on 2 weeks since I got my shipping notice and not a sausage on my doorstep yet.

Mine is yet to arrive...its been 20 days. They agreed to send it again. If that gets lost I may just cancel. They come by USPS, I dont know why but maybe someone is stealing these knowing what they are....
