Deagostini Falcon. Anyone seen this?

BTW - is it just me or has the forums been acting all weird lately popping up a message asking if you want to leave a page when you click "post reply" or double posting the same message? I wish there was a way to turn the "auto-save" feature off... I keep finding that it causes my typing to miss words while it saves it loses that I've typed. Pain in the tuchass.
Ya having the same issue double posting the last two posts I made

I just got my payment notice for my second month of my subscription yesterday. It should be shipping soon!

So far everything has been very smooth with my subscription order with DeAgostini. :)

The falcon subscription.

Nothing to do with my location, they just have poor organization. As can be read on other forums as well.

I am genuinely not expecting to receive anything from them.

When i subscribed it took three weeks until I got something in the mail. I was checking every second day online to see how it was going. I signed up online so you should do that too http://shop.deagostini.co.uk/about-us

im still annoyed because they didn't put in the blueprint for me. I phoned them and I spoke to someone who I could hardly understand. Very annoying.

^^^ the f@ happened there?!

Just checked the grime color of Tru Color is more of a black...not the creamy white. So be careful, I just canceled the order.

Sucks, I was about to order myself --- should have looked at their color chips, sorry for the mis-info.

Same here

Just got my first 4 issues today. Here's the details, in case anyone is keeping track:
Ordered/Confirmation: 3/30
Payment Processed: 3/31
Order Shipped: 4/3
Order Received: 4/7

I live in Northern Virginia, just outside of DC, and it came via US Mail (USPS) NOT UPS: the original mailing sticker was from UPS, but then has a USPS barcode sticker placed over it (I'm guessing UPS subcontracted it out to the USPS for some reason?)

Also, I saw on the blueprint that the area I pointed out in the attached photo and post #1171 (I think everyone missed this post because of the big ruckus that took place about the same time I posted my post... and let's please not revisit it)... this area is apparently for the battery pack. I still think something will need to be done to that covering piece though... adding pipework, hull plating, textured decking... something... it just looks so cruddy as a flat, off-white piece of plastic. Once we actually get it and see what we got, I'm sure there'll be some good suggestions. I was just interested if anyone had any ideas. Strange that no one's brought it up.

Anyways, looking forward to the next 4 issues... and the next 4 issues...

That's clearly an incomplete model. Looks to me like the hull that is removed to expose the cargo hold is connected to the long middle portion that forms the upper "jaw" of the Falcon. The hole where the missiles are fired from.

Thanks for letting us know about the shipping timeline!

Someone posted a pic showing the preview of Issue 15 (from the back of Issue 14) back in post #1241:

issue15.jpg

Which suggests that they are the hallway pieces for the cockpit tunnel as shown in my pic above.

Good dates, my order and processing was the same date 3/31, and shipped on the 3rd like yours. Hopefully by the end of week, I'm on the west coast. Final delivery by USPS is the cheapest of UPS's shipping options. I like that they're doing that, better it sits with the mailman and I pick up at the Post Office after work, instead of just sitting on the front porch all afternoon.

In that picture it just looks like the whole raised jawbox length is removed when lifting the panel to expose the insides and a flat piece just covering where we don't have any interior. Not a problem since the top will rarely be pulled off.

Yes, removed from the photo is that raised portion running from the top turret down between the mandibles. It looks like that piece and another piece of hull will have to be removed so that you can see the interior. My point is that when displaying the interior, that flat piece sticks out like a sore thumb. It's even more visible (and bland) in the photo LrdSatyr8 posted a few posts up.

Again, is it the final piece? I'm guessing it's close otherwise they'd have shown something else there. I'm probably going to do something with it, just to give it some texture. But it will have to wait until I get all/most of the pieces, so I can see what I can do with it... how much clearance is needed above the piece and below. I think once we get that far, this might be a piece for Tony to come up with a Shapeways solution of some sort to either lay/glue on top (if there's clearance) or cutout the center and insert something.

I didn't think UPS and USPS were related? And the way my USPS has been handling things lately, I'm not sure I want them delivering it. They probably would've left it on my doorstep too, if the box didn't fit in one of the larger boxes in our community mailbox (a big kiosk thing on the corner that contains small, key-entry boxes, where we pickup our mail). Hope you get yours soon.

Also, I noticed the first 2 magazines had glossy covers, while 3-4's where flat. I do graphic design, so I couldn't help but notice this. I'm sure it's to a) help cut costs, and b) promote the first 2 issues by making them look that much better. No biggie, providing they don't cut other things more important to the model.

Not related, but I guess someone figured out they could save money by just delivering a lot of packages in one town to the local post office and have them do door to door. I have one of the community mailboxes too, couple larger boxes on the bottom. Usually if it doesn't fit, my postman just puts a slip in the mailslot and takes it back to the post office, whereas the UPS guy leaves a slip to sign allowing him to just leave the box outside next time he comes by.

OK, now that you've pointed it out it will bug me if it's left flat.... already waiting to see how much space we will have under the hold to put piping under Tony's grates

Nice - I'm going this route too, though only just received part's 1 - 4 and I'm not sure I'll do a build log as I'm so far behind it will be like "seen it all before - boring!" although I am getting rid of the laser damage and the "broken elbow" on the cockpit passage - -- - I'm not going for an as filmed replica because there's so many discrepancies in the model that I don't think any 2 people out of hundreds would agree on whats right and at the end of the day it can only be "near as dammit' " because most of the greeblies are molded in - So in for far well over a grand lol - I used to be good in MAYA but never tried CAD so I reckon I'll buy and build in what I think is appropriate to my take on the ship and at the end of the day the learning curve and expense to buy Solidworks et al could never better the cost of just buying some already modeled pieces.

Loving this thread - Regards.

Dave.
