Deagostini Falcon. Anyone seen this?

I just got off the phone with them, so here's the abbreviated bullet points of the call-

-There was a glitch in the system for the start-up of the US subscriptions.
-This glitch was responsible for the second charge placed on everyone's cards.
-The same system with the glitch is responsible for generating the automated emails.
-All the emails we received were generated at the time of the initial order, but sent out at the appropriate time by the system.
-The system recognized the double billing as double ordering, hence the email everyone got this morning.

MOST IMPORTANT-

-The bug has been identified & fixed, & we should have none of this confusing nonsense going forward.
-Sincere apologies, thank you for your order, thanks for shopping with us,etc, etc...

Told them I would post our conversation here to let everyone know.

I'm satisfied with this answer, so I'm going to just chalk it up to what he said-Start-Up Errors, & roll with it.

Got my shipping notification today.
I found a pretty good youtube user called Hobby hero who has been posting some nice videos of his build
Not sure if I can post links to youtube on here.
It may be old news to the advanced modelers on this site though

Yeah, I'm not sure what game they are playing but so far it looks like they are a dog chasing its tail.
To be honest..its just a case of the people you talk to when you call them ...don't know anything really about what's in stock, or when things ship... so they talk out their back sides a lot. -- Which is to be expected. Since we are talking about a model in which we won't get all the parts for 25 months...I suppose waiting a tad longer to get the first one won't kill me :)..... However, we would all be a lot happier if we got real answers...even if the answer is "I don't know." :)

Do we know if they are really DONE with this model? Meaning..how much is still being worked out? That kinda makes me worried this thing will be painted 25 different shades of white :)

I've created a facebook group for us Deagnostini Falcon builders to share painting tips and that sort of thing. There is another group but it's closed and restricted. This one will be open for anyone to join in and post!

Anyone is welcome!
Wait..isn't that what you guys are going to do in here? Share tips? :)

I would say it is not finished as they just posted a video of the ramp motor going up and down.

I have the first 6 issues from the UK and yes, fifty shades of white is true. Not worried as I am going to repaint the entire thing anyways. My 5 bottles of floquil grime is in the ready.

I still don't understand why the GUNS on the top are chrome looking... I mean 50 shades of white is one thing...where did chrome come from?

The guns are just plain metal. To be painted by the builder. Future issues will guide even the novice builder on painting and weathering techniques for parts such as the guns (and more).

I gotta say, I've been a bit frustrated with the way things have gone, but mostly because I'm excited to get this product. I had heard nothing about DeAgostini before this thread, & had many of the concerns expressed here, like will it be cancelled, what's their track record, will it be as good quality as they're portraying it, etc.

I have to admit, my fears were from my own ignorance, & now, after researching them in the past few weeks, I'm good.

These guys aren't some fly by night company that just popped up. Some recent prop companies seem to make a great pitch, get a HUGE license, & then realize they're in over their heads. The following info is from their own site, but the statements can easily be verified with a bit of research.-

I only post this, to maybe calm the nerves of some that may be in the worry-boat I've been in. Hopefully , it'll help.

De Agostini also acquired Orbis Publications which then changed their name to De Agostini UK. Orbis Publications was well known for publishing weekly mazagine series such as Warplane, War Machine and The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Aircraft just to name a few.

I think many people who pass this up will be kicking themselves later. Maybe they should get anyway, hang onto it then sell it if they choose not to build it. I think they will get a return on their investment because afterall...it is the Millennium Falcon and there's no shortage of fans out there.

I don't know about cancelling halfway through but I was buying deagostini stickers and sticker books when I was 12 (I'm now 40) so unless it's a different company with the same name they've been around for a while.

Not worried about them not making the full kit....there are enough people in here who can fill in the blanks with upgrades and kits to finish it off.... I do worry a bit about them selling the kit when I don't think it's really finished.... either way...super excited to get one.

I know....I'm kind of regretting it at the minute,....if it had've been based on the 5 footer.....but then it wouldn't have been studio scale.....ah well

It's still early in its run so I would contact them as I'm sure there are back issues they could forward to you. If you don't call then you'll regret THAT as well. What's the worst they can say?

This company has been around since 1901... so I think we're pretty safe of it folding in the middle of things!
